Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --

-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --

-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --

Israel trying to pass the hospital bombing off as Palestine doing it is utterly disgusting and guarantees Netanyahu a spot in the deepest pit of Hell for all eternity, obviously, but do not forget that

a) the only reason why Westerners will believe it is because they want to believe it - they are not being brainwashed and this is not some masterful propaganda being weaved around us to turn kind-hearted people into monsters,

b) no Westerner opinions matter at all. In most Western countries there is no real anti-Israel option to vote for even if they did realize that Israel was a giant factory for crimes against humanity, and Westerners protesting against things in general almost never achieves anything (tens of millions protested for BLM in 2020 and not only did the situation not change, it got worse), and

c) the people whose opinions do matter (both the people in the region, and the leaders who aren't already Zionist compradors) already know that Israel is full of shit and that they just murdered nearly a thousand civilians in a single bomb attack.

It is despair-inducing to think that the genocidal Zionist entity is so brazenly, so smugly getting away with bullshitting this away into a cloud of confusion, as they release their metaphorical squid ink just like they did with the stupid babies story, but the propaganda and the media narrative that they are creating isn't what matters. It cannot address the fundamental contradictions ripping the country, the region, and the world apart any more than masterfully-applied makeup can fix a stab wound. It can merely obfuscate.

If you have evidence of Israeli crimes and atrocities that you wish to preserve, there is a thread here in which to do so.

Sources on the fighting in Palestine against Israel. In general, CW for footage of battles, explosions, dead people, and so on:

UNRWA daily-ish reports on Israel's destruction and siege of Gaza and the West Bank.

English-language Palestinian Marxist-Leninist twitter account. Alt here.
English-language twitter account that collates news (and has automated posting when the person running it goes to sleep).
Arab-language twitter account with videos and images of fighting.
English-language (with some Arab retweets) Twitter account based in Lebanon.
English-language Palestinian Twitter account which reports on news from the Resistance Axis.

English-language PalestineResist telegram channel.

Various sources that are covering the Ukraine conflict are also covering the one in Palestine, like Rybar.

The Country of the Week is still Palestine! Feel free to chime in with books, essays, longform articles, even stories and anecdotes or rants.

Here is the map of the Ukraine conflict, courtesy of Wikipedia.

The weekly update isn't coming because I'm sick and too focussed on the collapse of the Zionist entity.

Links and Stuff

The bulletins site is down.

Examples of Ukrainian Nazis and fascists

Examples of racism/euro-centrism during the Russia-Ukraine conflict

Add to the above list if you can.

Resources For Understanding The War

Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map. Their youtube channel has substantially diminished in quality but the map is still useful.

Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section.

Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.

Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.

On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent and very good journalist reporting in the warzone on the separatists' side.

Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.

Telegram Channels

Again, CW for anti-LGBT and racist, sexist, etc speech, as well as combat footage.

Pro-Russian

https://t.me/aleksandr_skif ~ DPR's former Defense Minister and Colonel in the DPR's forces. Russian language.

https://t.me/Slavyangrad ~ A few different pro-Russian people gather frequent content for this channel (~100 posts per day), some socialist, but all socially reactionary. If you can only tolerate using one Russian telegram channel, I would recommend this one.

https://t.me/s/levigodman ~ Does daily update posts.

https://t.me/patricklancasternewstoday ~ Patrick Lancaster's telegram channel.

https://t.me/gonzowarr ~ A big Russian commentator.

https://t.me/rybar ~ One of, if not the, biggest Russian telegram channels focussing on the war out there. Actually quite balanced, maybe even pessimistic about Russia. Produces interesting and useful maps.

https://t.me/epoddubny ~ Russian language.

https://t.me/boris_rozhin ~ Russian language.

https://t.me/mod_russia_en ~ Russian Ministry of Defense. Does daily, if rather bland updates on the number of Ukrainians killed, etc. The figures appear to be approximately accurate; if you want, reduce all numbers by 25% as a 'propaganda tax', if you don't believe them. Does not cover everything, for obvious reasons, and virtually never details Russian losses.

https://t.me/UkraineHumanRightsAbuses ~ Pro-Russian, documents abuses that Ukraine commits.

Pro-Ukraine

Almost every Western media outlet.

https://discord.gg/projectowl ~ Pro-Ukrainian OSINT Discord.

https://t.me/ice_inii ~ Alleged Ukrainian account with a rather cynical take on the entire thing.

Last week's discussion post.

Last night, October 17, 2023, on social medias it was reported that groups of individuals in Turkiye attempted to breach a remotely located NATO radar base that houses US troops in Turkey's Malatya province, the Kürecik Radar Station

The Kürecik Radar Station was established in 2012 for use by NATO as an early-warning radar against ballistic missile attacks

Accoding to Pro-Israel sectors of Turkish OSINT circles (https://twitter.com/i/status/1714525491846127691), the rally was "organized in collaboration between Iran-trained Turkey's Hizbullah (Kurdish Islamists) operatives" and "pro-Russian neo-nationalist elements", althought there is no proofs of such

As, expected, the Turkish army prevented the break-in.

Meanwhile, The Turkish police also blocked the demonstrations and riots against the Israeli missions in Istanbul and Ankara.

"The US aircraft carriers deployed in the Mediterranean Sea are in range of Russia’s airborne hypersonics in the Black Sea", this is NOT a warning but just a reminder - Putin.

Israeli PR campaign results in three screenshots:

Not that American public opinions have ever done much for Palestinians, nor that this is indicative of much, but interesting to see.

Trading Giant Says Some Of Europe’s Natural Gas Demand Is Lost For Good

Some of the lost European demand for natural gas due to the energy crisis and record-high prices could never return, Vitol Group’s chief executive Russel Hardy said at the Energy Intelligence Forum in London on Tuesday.

“For gas, demand has plummeted in Europe, with double-digit percentage reductions. We expect some of the lost demand to be permanent,” Hardy told the forum.

“Gas and power had a terrible year for demand (last year) And it continues to be very difficult in Europe ... on the industrial side because of the damage over the last few months of high prices,” said Hardy, the top executive of the world’s largest independent oil trader.

“We can expect some of that lost demand to stay lost forever,” according to Hardy.

Europe’s gas demand has trended lower for the past year amid energy savings measures, high prices last year, and demand destruction from slowing industrial activity. The EU has also set a target for member states to reduce gas consumption.

European demand for natural gas remained near the bottom of the five-year seasonal levels in August, helping inventories end the month at around 93% full, data from the Joint Organizations Data Initiative (JODI) showed on Monday.

Gas demand in the EU was 12% lower in 2022 than the 2019-2021 average, driven by falling industrial and household gas demand, researchers at Brussels-based think tank Bruegel wrote last week.

In 2023, the greater availability of alternative power generation helped with significant gas demand reduction in the power sector, too.

In the second quarter of 2023, the EU gas demand was 19% below the 2019-21 average, with gas demand for power generation down by 17%, Bruegel said.

Ahead of the 2023/2024 winter, gas storage sites in the EU were 98% full as of October 15, according to data from Gas Infrastructure Europe. Europe hit its target to have storage 90% full by November 1 months in advance.

The US military's top commander in the Middle East, CENTCOM commander Gen. Michael 'Erik' Kurilla, arrived in Tel Aviv, Israel, for "high-level meetings with Israel's military leadership."

Kurilla to meet Israeli defense chief Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi "to gain a clear understanding of Israel's defense requirements, outline US support efforts to avoid expansion of the conflict and reiterate the Department of Defense's ironclad support for Israel,"

"I'm here to ensure that Israel has what it needs to defend itself, and am particularly focused on avoiding other parties expanding the conflict," Kurilla said, according to CENTCOM .

It genuinely impresses me how quickly they turn these videos around. This is from an attack earlier today.

Hundreds feared dead in hospital attack: Gaza authorities

Several Palestinians have been killed and wounded when an Israeli air strike hit the yard of a hospital in central Gaza, the Interior Ministry says.

The first estimates of people killed are between 200 to 300, Al Jazeera’s Maram Humaid reported, citing the Ministry of Health in Gaza.

The development of the conflict between Israel and Hamas continues to remain unpredictable.

The ground operation in Gaza has been regularly delayed. Probably, the IDF command came to its senses after the initial shock and began to adequately analyze the situation. Fulfilling the order of the political leadership to completely destroy Hamas is impossible without heavy losses of personnel. Gaza is a large, densely populated agglomeration. By destroying houses and dehumanizing Gazans, Israel reduces the possibilities for negotiations on the one hand, and on the other, motivates them to fight to the end.

We should not forget about the warning from Hezbollah, which could invade from the north if a ground operation begins. In this case, a war on two fronts and an increase in the number of attacks on Israel cannot be avoided.

The Israeli leadership, through its rhetoric, convinced its own population of the need for a “final solution to the Palestinian issue.” This greatly reduces the room for maneuver, because negotiations with Hamas simply will not be understood. A ground operation could seriously worsen the current situation.

Israel needs direct US support. Not with weapons and ammunition, but with our own troops. Such support may completely cool Hezbollah’s ardor, because this threatens to strike Iran itself.

It is very likely that the very possibility of conducting a ground operation in Gaza depends on today’s negotiations between Netanyahu and Biden.

Wikipedia's article on the China-US trade war depicts China as suffering more and quoting Hong Kong academics saying it's made China and Xi by extension look weak. Fucking joke of a website.

King of Jordan calls Gaza hospital bombing 'massacre' and 'war crime'

Netanyahu personally blamed Hamas for the attack on a hospital in Gaza, which killed over 500 people

[–] IceWallowCum@hexbear.net 36 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

My country's media is all deep in the "it was actually Hamas that destroyed that hospital lmao" bullshit

This control over a sovereign country's information is so disgusting, how can the journalists involved in this live with themselves? Cause they are either evil or ungodly stupid
