Work Reform
A place to discuss positive changes that can make work more equitable, and to vent about current practices. We are NOT against work; we just want the fruits of our labor to be recognized better.
Our Philosophies:
- All workers must be paid a living wage for their labor.
- Income inequality is the main cause of lower living standards.
- Workers must join together and fight back for what is rightfully theirs.
- We must not be divided and conquered. Workers gain the most when they focus on unifying issues.
Our Goals
- Higher wages for underpaid workers.
- Better worker representation, including but not limited to unions.
- Better and fewer working hours.
- Stimulating a massive wave of worker organizing in the United States and beyond.
- Organizing and supporting political causes and campaigns that put workers first.
Any org found guilty of posting a ghost role must pay one year salary to every applicant. All job postings must include the salary. If the salary is not posted, the fine will be the highest paid employee's compensation.
Everyone who okayed the ghost role being posted is barred from any involvement in hiring processes for life.
That's my fantasy, anyway.
I always fucking knew that the job market was full of shit, now I know it's more full of shit than I thought.
Companies keep ghost jobs active for several reasons:
To build candidate pipelines for roles that might open later
To signal growth during hiring freezes
To leave approved positions stuck in limbo due to budget cuts
To satisfy internal posting requirements or HR quotas
So in other words companies are ghouls willing to turn what is already a grueling process nowadays into an even more gruelling one simply for the sake of gaining more metrics?

I have never been more surprised in my life
Well, yeah. Ever met a company?
So glad I never really was and never will be in this hellhole. Every jobs markets related news I read for the last decades is bad. And the anecdotal stories I've heard from some people that do or have to work, are horrifying. Like 7 rounds of interviewing-process. Jeez.
My financially challengd parents (boomer) called some company, asked if they were hiring and got the job next day. And they still complained it was so hard finding a job 😁
