People in politics SHPULD BE FUCKING EXPOSED because it's about GOVT POLICY that affects EVERYONE. NOBODY IN POLITICS SHOULD BE HIDDEN.

[–] agamemnonymous@sh.itjust.works 19 points 2 days ago

No record shall be withheld, delayed, or redacted on the basis of embarrassment, reputational harm, or political sensitivity, including to any government official, public figure, or foreign dignitary.

The judge literally ordered that political consequences were not an excuse for redactions. I hope he starts putting people in jail

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 122 points 4 days ago (1 children)

He will do nothing! ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! The judges in the Untied States are like the parents who say they're going to count to three, and the Trump administration are the kids who have figured out that nothing happens when they get to three.

[–] Rolder@reddthat.com 27 points 4 days ago (2 children)

At the end of the day, the folks who actually enforce rulings are beholden to Trump and his cronies, so they kind of can’t enforce shit

[–] Philippe23@lemmy.ca 10 points 3 days ago

Judges can deputize people to carry out their rulings if need be. So that's not strictly true.

[–] tym@lemmy.world 9 points 3 days ago

If only there were a way to separate the judicial and executive branch.. why didn't the founding fathers think of that?!

[–] tidderuuf@lemmy.world 74 points 4 days ago

That would be a first. I'm not holding my breath.

[–] Corkyskog@sh.itjust.works 23 points 3 days ago

They were also supposed to release all the files and not some of them, yet here we are.

[–] Triumph@fedia.io 41 points 4 days ago

What's this, another court order shamelessly ignored? Fourth box.

[–] JasonDJ@lemmy.zip 214 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

Politically exposed individuals.

Here's the question, why are they in the files doing something that merits redacting them?

Call it what it is. You aren't "redacting the names of politically exposed individuals". You are "protecting the reputations of politically-aligned pedophiles".

[–] Hayduke@lemmy.world 137 points 4 days ago (2 children)

Did anyone really expect them to release documents that implicated republicans or their puppeteers? These assholes are blatantly corrupt. As long as they are the gatekeepers, nothing can be trusted.

[–] Rekorse@sh.itjust.works 4 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Its not blatant enough or a third of America wouldnt still support him.

[–] Bwaz@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

A third watches no news except FOX, if that. They don't see or care what happens as long as its not obvious and against them.

[–] ferrule@sh.itjust.works 35 points 3 days ago (2 children)

This is such a crazy timeline. Everyone knows our president is an ephebophile (pedo into teens). He has flat out stated it. No one is unaware of this fact anymore.

And yet we live in a system where good people are being deported or tortured in prison camps. We can't have government that actually works because our laws are so fucked up that good people get hurt while we all know a pedo rapist is running the country.

[–] RampantParanoia2365@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

He is into 13 year olds. 13 year olds are not 'teens'. Yes, I know how 13 is pronounced. He's still a pedo.

[–] ferrule@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 days ago

i'm just using the technical term.

[–] ScoffingLizard@lemmy.dbzer0.com 10 points 3 days ago (1 children)

It's time we realize as a species that this world is ran by pure evil. We need to begin responding differently. I don't know what that means, but even after a revolution there are still charismatic psychos that come along and fuck shit up again. People are just too dumb and fall for it over and over and over. How many times does this process need to be repeated before we evolve as a species?

[–] ferrule@sh.itjust.works 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

It is that damn moral highground the left wants to stick to. They will shoot themselves in the foot over and over and while bleeding out ask "what could we have done?"

There no longer is a slippery slope. Outlaw the shit republicans do and lock them the hell up. Cuz you know what, they are tryinging their hardest to do the same.

[–] ScoffingLizard@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Obviously that is the correct step in the interim. But how do we prevent this repeating over and over?

[–] ferrule@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

honestly i don't know if humans can.

when you look at stories of (semi)utopian societies there is this drive in nearly all people to be good to a fault. people want to work and learn and do things for the betterment of society. real humans will find a way to be shitty no matter how good they are.

i think the only way to get things to work is to define a good but rigid stance on all thing shitty. shame the fuck out of stupid religous and political views. anti science and anti facts should cause your voice to be silenced. this wave of stupidity and hate needs to be treated like cancer.

[–] LittleBorat3@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

Heads need to roll over and over again

[–] MyMindIsLikeAnOcean@piefed.world 4 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

No they didn’t. They redacted the names of Trump, his allies, and people who bribed him.

The media needs to say what’s actually going on, not just feed us bullshit Trump says.

[–] g0nz0li0@piefed.social 33 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Motherfucker Trump. He’s so obviously implicated and covering. The very thing all those Magat’s claim to fight against: he’s that.

[–] davidagain@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

More daughterfucker than motherfucker in his dreams and on Epstein's plane, if you go by how he talks.

[–] Redditsux@lemmy.world 60 points 4 days ago

This is bullshit.

[–] MagicShel@lemmy.zip 55 points 4 days ago (1 children)

They were never, ever going to release the files with Trump in them or anyone Trump adjacent.

[–] Soulphite@reddthat.com 6 points 3 days ago

At least we know without a shadow of a doubt the dumb pedophile rapist piece of shit is unmistakably in those files... this completely seals the deal. Legally nothing will be done but, yeah.. the childfucking piece of shit is DEFINITELY in those files. For sure. No doubt. Undoubtedly. No contest. The President of the United States of America is a disgusting pedophile rapist piece of shit.

Just look at him... ugh! [shudder]

[–] davidagain@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

Ain't no-one more politically exposed than one Donald J Trump.
So, probably, and as far as we know,
Ain't no-one more redacted in the Epstein Files than that Donald J Trump.

I'd put the word president in front of his surname, but he's not worthy of the honour, and he's not worthy of the presidency.

I didn't think there was anyone in the world who could make George W Bush look statesmanlike, well-informed, wise, responsible and honest. I was wrong.

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 18 points 3 days ago

Republican child rapists

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 34 points 4 days ago (1 children)
[–] dumbass@piefed.social 21 points 4 days ago

Add it the pile.

[–] WatDabney@lemmy.dbzer0.com 33 points 4 days ago

Surprising no one.

[–] elucubra@sopuli.xyz 18 points 3 days ago

Surprised Pikachu!

[–] MonkeyDumpster@lemmy.org 21 points 4 days ago (1 children)

is the DOJ acting on the names they've redacted? like, are these people going to jail?

[–] Babalugats@feddit.uk 18 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I think I love Trump and his government purely because they are so blatant at corruption, they expose all of those before them and will surely make everyone question those that follow.

If not.. Then I guess that's it.

If there is an option for Americans to disrupt the republican - democrat party swap, then please, please disrupt the hell out of it in the next election.

This is a big surprise. I'm sure it was a mistake and they meant to redact something damaging in a different document.
