My dad used to complain about this stuff while he was handing me the gift on Xmas morning. I was like 8 and I remember getting pissed like "well why are you buying it for me then?!"

Wait til you hear about gas prices going down.

this is why I give my kids beatings for Christmas. so they appreciate the other 364 days of the year when I just scream at them.

Do you open your new set of jumper cables first?

[–] GreenKnight23@lemmy.world 8 points 2 hours ago

I make my kids do it.

the true gift is the look on their face every year.

Just .ml things.

There's a grain of truth in here somewhere, but it's really hard to find.

Of course their message is just "West bad, Christmas bad."

It's the truth. You think rampant consumerism isn't creating consequences? Do you think personal purchases shouldn't be held to moral standards?

[–] Serinus@lemmy.world 2 points 29 minutes ago

Oh, do you not buy anything made in China?

[–] Soulg@ani.social 4 points 54 minutes ago (1 children)

Will they ever look at why and how China itself would allow these conditions to arise as a complicated nuanced view of global trade?

Nah, West bad

[–] Serinus@lemmy.world 1 points 27 minutes ago (1 children)

Or realistic suggestions to fix actual problems?

No, they just want to throw blame onto parents who buy their kids gifts for Christmas. Because clearly that is the evil.

[–] Serinus@lemmy.world 0 points 25 minutes ago* (last edited 25 minutes ago)

The actual evil in this image is wearing shoes in the house. Funny that that's likely also part of the propaganda against the West.

(Started as tongue in cheek and ended less so.)

Those kids get to play with hundreds of that toy? How unfair

[–] Quacksalber@sh.itjust.works 15 points 4 hours ago

For Kids. From Kids.

Not saying it's AI, but anyone feel like the dad has Yaoi hands going on?

For the uninformed it basicallymeans huge, disproportionate hands. I saw his and was like damn, why does he have claw fingers bro?

They don't seem fast enough.

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 3 points 1 hour ago

Looks like we just found our new head of production boys! Tells us more about how these exploited children are inefficient.

What is with all the agitprop posts today?

I guess Putin and Xi dont give their trolls the day off.

[–] mriormro@lemmy.zip 1 points 41 minutes ago (1 children)

Hey man, if you don’t want to critically think about your consumption (or the massive imbalance of consumption between the Global North and the Global South) then I guess good for you. But to think that this comic being posted is somehow a direct attack by Russia and the PRC is certainly… a take.

Nice strawman, did you bring a torch?
