Hey everyone!

I'm not quite sure about the name of the community, might need a bit of workshopping there. Feel free to speak up if you have a suggestion for it!

So, about the comm. !Comicstrips@lemmy.world is doing great, but recently it's been pretty heavy on political stuff. Largely US-centric politics, to boot. There's no easy way to get just the funnies that I want from there, so here we are! I'll try to curate and repost the funny stuff I see in my daily activities, but I hope you guys will pitch in with me! Even just commenting will be greatly appreciated!

This is very much a work in progress, so please share any thoughts and feedback you have.

Is there an issue with subbing to piefed communities from lemmy? This is the first I've come across that I wanted to sub to and DDG doesn't seem to turn up relevant answers, but maybe someone here knows something

No, there's no issue subbing to piefed from lemmy or vice versa. What problems are you facing?

Demonstration effect: it worked now.

The issue I had was that the menu for sidebar and subbing wasn't showing up in Voyager and the button inactive, which I'd never seen with any community from Lemmy instances, so I wondered if there's something I don't know. I have no idea whether that's a federation issue, an app issue, a "the Machine God decided to mess with me" issue, but it's gone now and subbed.

No idea, but glad to hear it!

Commented in a random thread because I'm a doofus who didn't see this one, but thought I'd link it as it's pertinent to this post's topic.

One thing I'd suggest is to be less trigger happy with the moderator delete tool. A lot of recent posts with interesting discussions in them were deleted over there, I suspect because it violated the "no adult content" rule, even though it didn't depict anything explicit.

Yeah, I have no issues with NSFW content, as long as it's comics and not outright porn. I generally moderate content with a light hand.

So Oglaf is OK?

Yes! I've even started it by posting one.

I'm all for it!

Nice. I've been wanting to post more of my comics but haven't drawn any new ones lately.

Plus Lemmy could use another comic strip community.

Judging by the number of upvotes the posts here are getting already, this community will take off. Congrats!

If there's anything I can help with, drop me a line.

Thanks! Keep those updates flowing 😉

So, I just scrolled through comicstrips for a while, and in the 20 newest post, maybe 3 or 4 are political. And most of them just general, common state of the world stuff. Not sure what your issue is with this community, but I personally don't have the need for another community posting 80% identical stuff.

Good look though

Mostly that I'm trying to reduce the amount of rage- / stress-inducing content I see in my subscribed feed. And I thought to myself that I can't be the only one with this issue. It's fine if you like the comicstrips community! What I'm aiming for is definitely a bit more niche, and people will pick one or the other but probably not both.

Yeah focusing on the negative is kind of a human brain thing. Even if there's a few you might think there's more.
