Ask a trans person what it’s like to go for a walk in the park alone.
It’s pretty fucking terrible.

Intersectional pride flag on front of house to piss off hicks: check
Shitloads of guns inside house in case hicks decide to fucking try something: also check
Don't let them put you in boxes, man
Is the reel usable? I'm considering getting into fishing, but haven't committed to kit. If it has a story, all the better.
I have no idea. Their truck could be full of fishing equipment
The constant bombardment is exhausting, especially now with this resurgence of animosity.
It's not gonna stop me from being visible. I'm fortunate enough not to live in a hostile environment. Solidarity is survival.
See, this is why I don't know why anyone would say it's a choice. David Cross said it himself, but what kid is sitting there thinking "you know, I know that I don't find being with a man attractive at all, but, what if I c just chose to do that instead, also inviting endless ridicule and hatred towards me in the process. Yeah! Hat sounds like something I want to choose to do".
Lgbtq folks are some of the bravest I know, admitting to the world that they are who they are knowing what anger and hatred will be (sometimes literally) thrown at them due to arbitrary rules we as a society have
While this comment passes a vibe check, let's not pretend that there are no gays and trans in denial that still are pretty comfortable with that.
I love the recent LGBTQ+ tendency to steal the narrative of being LGBTQ+ as a choice. It's a choice, a brave one, to love people who you love, to fight for it, and not to hide this part of human nature as if it doesn't exist.
Yeah, just seeing their insane hatred
I don't even live in a part of the world that is as openly hostile to LGBT+ as red parts of the US, and I still don't dare being visibly gender-nonconforming in public. In part because I feel like it's hard to pull off for me, but y'know, it'd be a lot easier if I didn't have to fear violence.
Hmmm, I figured it wasa situation were you had to accept that there's irrationally violent people out there 😐
Well I hope smiling and gesturing throwing my heart helped
The thing is, violent people tend to pick targets that visually stand out, e.g. by sporting rainbow symbols or flamboyant fashion. If you're just some unassuming dude who in no way visually indicates that they have anything to do with LGBT or any other visible minority, you don't clash much with them. The downside is that it's kind of a shitty life to live when you're basically closeted, and it's kinda throwing all the people who do inherently stand out to the wolves.
Well I hope smiling and gesturing throwing my heart helped
You mean the Musk thing? Ballsy move :D
Well, yeah kinda but my hand ends up in a position like it's handing something(my heart) or like I'm embarrassing for a hug.
The target was a 3' by 5' rainbow flag about 4 feet above me other than that I was black coat with blue jeans
It feels risky to take a side, especially when it seems like the other side is feeling increasingly emboldened and righteous in their violence. I want a world to exist where LGBT (and others) don't need to be afraid to live freely, and that means sometimes I do things that scare me.
I'm not trying to preach, or say you need to suck it up, or anything like that. I just want to say that I get it. Thanks for taking a side; I wish more people would.
I'm sorry you had to deal with that... I sincerely thank you for showing your support, it means a lot to us.
I like to hope that the majority of people don't give two shits who I like to boink.
Thanks. I do feel like I need to do it again just to expose people to support for the LGBT community.
