Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

GEO Group and CoreCivic face competition as the agency looks to dramatically reduce the number of immigrant jails by shifting to massive warehouses

What's going on is that people are rejecting most of the warehouse-to-concentration-camp conversions, so they're going to pick a few really huge ones to do, and pick locations where they can overcome local opposition.

We should all consider what to do when we see a cattle truck full of people on the highway.

It took almost a decade for Nazi Germany to get to the point of concentration camps and then to start turning to gas chambers/incinerators to perform mass genocide.

Turns out, even the most hardcore jew-hating Nazi's couldn't handle just unloading on a crowd of prisoners in the concentration camps with a gun on full auto and mowing innocent people down.

We know this because they legitimately tried that first, and their most hardcore Nazi SS troopers couldn't do it.

So then they built the gas chambers.

We're not there yet, but we're very, very close, and we're barely a year in.

Fascism's moving faster than it used to.

I'm not sure we're going to get extermination camps, or at least not ones dedicated to killing. They need slaves since they're rounding up a lot of people doing jobs that no one else wants.

Not saying that millions of people won't die, I just think they'll be worked to death instead. It's basically how the US was built anyways.

[–] acme401@lemmy.world 1 points 5 hours ago

They're going to kill by the most efficient means possible: inaction & bureaucracy

They're going to drag their feet and pretend that they are not leaving people to die in cages, when they are.

We Will never know the total number. Where are the 2,000 people from alligator Alcatraz? Where the fuck did they go?

Wow so uh… I guess we’re gonna get to the ARBEIT MACHT FREI phase pretty soon :/

They're also already building incinerators.

[–] silence7@slrpnk.net 2 points 8 hours ago

Got credible sourcing on that?

[–] Witchfire@lemmy.world 2 points 9 hours ago (2 children)

They're tryina build a prison

[–] Assassassin@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 7 hours ago

For you and me to live in

[–] karashta@piefed.social 2 points 8 hours ago (2 children)

These are ultimately going to be death camps. That's why they need the incinerators in all these places not meant for human habitation.

[–] Assassassin@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 7 hours ago

All research in successful drug policy shows that treatment should be increased and law enforcement decreased while abolishing mandatory minimum sentences.

[–] village604@adultswim.fan 1 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

I doubt they'll be straight up death camps. They'll be forced labor camps because the country will need slaves once all the immigrants who were basically slaves to begin with are rounded up.

Not that it's much of a distinction, but theoretically less should die before we piss the world off enough to invade us.

[–] silence7@slrpnk.net 1 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Nuclear weapons mean nobody is going to invade the US. Its on Americans to save themselves

[–] village604@adultswim.fan 2 points 6 hours ago

Trump is going to do the same shit Putin did and funnel the money for maintaining the nuclear arsenal into the pockets of oligarchs. I'll be surprised if we have functional nukes 5 years from now.

[–] zd9@lemmy.world 13 points 18 hours ago (2 children)

I wonder if people are going to get fed up enough to do something about these

[–] silence7@slrpnk.net 8 points 17 hours ago* (last edited 17 hours ago) (1 children)

We've already had folks try lighting them on fire, but that's tough with modern construction. Nowhere near as easy as when the OSS simple sabotage field manual was written

[–] zd9@lemmy.world 6 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

I'm sure people are creative enough to figure stuff out

[–] village604@adultswim.fan 2 points 7 hours ago

Just tell a bunch of meth heads there's copper in there. The building would be useless overnight.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 3 points 15 hours ago

as long as you dangle something shiny in front of the voters they dont care.

[–] dnub@piefed.social 3 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

Bet old data centers will be top valued, another way to line the admin and oligarchs pockets

[–] Corkyskog@sh.itjust.works 5 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

Nah Pam Bondis brother has a company with old warehouses they bought up that they are selling to ice for 4x market value.

[–] village604@adultswim.fan 4 points 7 hours ago

So there's actually a non-zero chance it's just a scam and they won't actually be used.
