I remember thinking back then, here comes the worst American president I'll likely see in my lifetime. Dubya, we were so. very. wrong.

I remember reading an article (must have been during the Obama years) saying 'if we, the Republican party, want to be successful we have to acknowledge what a disaster Bush was.'

Turns out doubling down was even more profitable!

Just a good ol' boy trying to impress his dad after a massive failure to prevent a shocking terrorist attack, with the slaughter of a million people in the wrong country.

I slightly pitty him and his brother reading about his dad, the ex CIA director who likely oversaw this program and has some stories of hunting and raping kids circulating... The drinking and passive presidency and retirement to quitely paint on a ranch all have a new context

Nixon walked so that Reagan could run so that Dubya could do cartwheels so that Trump could shit himself all over the racecourse.

I mean the US doesn't punish bad behaviour.

Giving Nixon a pardon is just another in a long line of "this is a time for unity" and "we need to move past this" going back to the civil war.

Knew 911 was going to happen, didn't do anything. "For the love of the game" 😒

For the love of the game

No wonder USA is in such a deep shit when the average voter apparently already forgot about Haliburton and Dick Cheney.

[–] deliriousdreams@fedia.io 4 points 1 day ago

You assume the average voter ever knew about Haliburton and Dick Cheney. When Cheney died there were lots of people needing to have who he was explained because they didn't understand why people were celebrating. There's a number of voter eligible people who were not alive for either Cheney's travesties or Haliburton and the Iraq War stuff.

You think the game is war but it's actually government grift.

[–] deliriousdreams@fedia.io 2 points 1 day ago

War is one of the leading government grifts. That's why the US has a military industrial complex.

Hey now, military tech and surveillance made unprecedented profits thanks to him. He normalized asshole searches at airports, and funded so many agencies full of power tripping illiterate racists.

FISA courts? PATRIOT Act? CIA black sites? He destroyed Afghanistan and Iraq?

A large portion of the Epstein files are held back, also Epstein wasn't the only player in the game (see P Didler), so insert the appropriate Simpsons meme here...

Hehehe, this is a good one. Not American, but I thought you guys lost the plot with Dubya back in the day. Looking back, he seems quite vanilla now. Crazy times.

Daddy CIA pre-scrubbed FBIs files?
