574K concurrent for a deckbuilder sequel is wild. Slay the Spire created the genre and now its sequel dominates it. Other roguelike card games must be taking notes.

Makes total sense why they made it co-op though
Played a couple of rounds so far, one in the nicely implemented multiplayer mode. If you liked the original you'll like this too. I'm also really happy for such a successful release of a Godot game.
Should I play the first first or is starting with this one ok?
I used to be very anti-card game but Inscryption was very fun and I'm trying to branch out to some stuff outside of my comfort zone. Any other recommendations for card games?
Not related to STS2 or this topic, but if you really enjoyed Inscryption, I stroooongly urge you to play Daniel Mullins’ other big game, “The Hex.” I went in blind on the advice of someone when I was back on Reddit. They told me
“Don’t watch the trailer, don’t read anything, the weird graphics in the screenshots will make sense like a half hour in. It’s so cheap but it’s an incredible game.”
I picked it up, started it with my partner, and we marathoned it in a couple days. We could have gone faster but we took our sweet time, there were MULTPLE mind-blowing moments for us, and it has ties to the Inscryption world, too. Like nobody has played it compared to Inscryption and I find that insane. I started with Inscryption and loved it, it’s got more replay value than The Hex, but overall I think I’d rate The Hex a tad higher in overall game quality. It’s so… I can’t say anything more without spoiling stuff. Go in blind, it’s worth it!
If you or anyone else reading this heeds my advice, PLEASE let me know what you think of the game once you’re… like, into the game a bit and “get it.”
The Hex and “The Forgotten City” (a game NOT by Daniel Mullins) are two games I went into completely blind, wouldn’t have it any other way, and wish above all other games I could experience again with no memory of the games.
Please go play the Hex, everyone who liked Inscryption! (Also Danial has another game coming out this year or next and I am UNREASONABLY hyped and I don’t ever get hyped for any games ever anymore)
God, Inscryption was so good!
As a mechanical game sts(1+2) is superior to inscryption, however do not expect any kind of narrative driven gameplay, gameplay element changes, or real interaction with the opposite side other than fighting.
I really really enjoyed inscryption, but I only played it through once. I currently have around 20 hours in sts2 and I have no idea how much in 1.
All of that being said, I do think that you can get the feel of a puzzler from slay the spire, at least in its most intense moments. Trying to find the right solution to survive. If you enjoyed the card based elements of inscryption, you will enjoy slay the spire.
Also, just skip to 2 instead of playing one. If you have any friends that like the series, try the coop too! It's really fun and well done.
Edit: I seen you asked for other recommendations, and I would suggest monster train 2. Again, no real story so it doesn't matter that you're picking it up at 2.
Unfortunately inscryption is pretty unique in the genre, which is what made it so great.
Monster Train was fantastic and Monster Train 2 is even better. I love the challenge modes and the new hellspawn.
Sts2 ,in every conceivable way, supersedes its predecessor , rendering it obsolete.
There’s minimal story, so you’re not missing anything.
Just jump in and play.
That said, Slay the Spire regularly goes on sale for like 90% off. You can pick the game up for under $3.
Enjoying it very much. For a game that isn't even complete it is so solid on the gameplay. Feels different enough from the first game, but also the same.
Not sure if it will become my favourite deck builder over Monster Train 2, but it's still a fantastic early access game.
I suck so bad at the first one, probably won't spend any money to lose at this one until it's on sale in a few years.
It’s really good, relatively cheap, expands on the original game. Understandable.
I couldn't even buy it for like an hour because Steam was getting overloaded lol. I'm playing it now and having a lot of fun.
as far as I remember, this has only happened twice in recent years, last time being silksong.
love seeing small and/or independent devs show up the aaa's.
I am waiting for the full release but goddamn I hope it doesn't take too long!
Mewgenics is keeping me happy atm, but StS is the literal GOAT
