Hi, I’m posting from the threadiverse on PieFed, so I’m not sure if the tag would help.
Due to the volume I’m post, it would add a lot of workload and time spent when I’m trying to find ways to reduce my time.
I’ve got a lot of posts in queue at the moment, but going forward I’ll try to work out something to get alt-text on them.
Three pictures first: a dystopian tangle of highways labelled "fossil fuel vehicles" second: a dystopian tangle of highways labelled "electric vehicles" third: an idyllic walkavble city labelled "walking biking and public transit".
That took me literally a minute.
Cool so an extra half an hour for this sub alone per day. Considering each post is already a few minutes work to set time fields, find image, and make up a title it all adds up to me not wanting to spend more time than I have too.
You could post less but more accessible...
Or you find a way that the community helps you with those image descriptions.
I don't think Lemmy or Piefed support hashtags. Personally, I often just do it anyway. See a post without transcription, transcribe it.
Better if OPs do it themselves, but volunteers taking on the effort without need to request permission/be told to do it is second best.
PieFed does support it, not sure if it shows up on Masto though.
Hmm, actually it doesn't look like it does work. In fact, it may be worse than Lemmy. I can see @saltywizard@beige.party's hashtags (as actual hashtags) in Lemmy, but not here on Piefed.
But I can't see my own hashtags in either platform.
edit: wait, looks like both Lemmy and Piefed may work. I can see saltywizard's hashtags as tags on the default Piefed UI, but not in Blorp, which is my preferred Piefed client.
Blorp dev here. I'm not sure I understand hashtags well enough to implement them yet. From what I can tell, @saltywizard@beige.party either manually linked the hashtag to Mastadon, or more likely, whatever client they used inserted the link when they types the hashtag.
To demonstrate my point:
- Here is a hashtag I manually linked #alt4me
- Here is a hashtag I did not manually link #alt4me
In Blorp, 1 is clickable for me, but 2 isn't. Depending on what client you're using, 2 may get auto linked.
Piefed tags appear as Mastodon hashtags, however they may be different, eg Mastodon removes spaces
Oh neat! #cool
what the fuck's a hashtag
the right and left are not mutually exclusive, just the artist propagandizes us to think they are
As the number of cars goes up the right begins to look more and more like the left. While both can exist it is not propaganda to compare the two in this way.
i recognize the neighborhood that inspired this drawing (it was a freeway that got pulled out, had nothing to do with fossil fuel vehicles or public transit, it had to do with a rich neighborhood's view). i used to eat calamari rolled up in a newspaper there. this is pure propaganda.
Boston? I thought it was Vienna with the cable car.
embarcadero in san francisco
Isn't part of the point of the post that the freeways are ugly? Just because it's rich people thinking it's ugly doesn't make it untrue.
the point of the post is that walking, biking, and public transit make cities. not electric vehicles or fossil fuel vehicles. there were already buildings below the freeway. they just demolished it so the financial center and the (usually) rich tourists could have a pretty view. I'd busk there and take the tourists' money, buy calamari, it was great. I'm all for the freeway being gone, don't get me wrong, but it had absolutely nothing to do with public transit. the public transit was better when the freeway was there. like, that's the actual history of the place. it looks like the embarcadero in san francisco. specific corner down by the wharf, viewed from the hilton up in the financial district. like, the top of the hilton. i wish i knew which corner but i only know my way around there on foot. bottommost building in the right picture is a korean restaurant i like.
i could be wrong, this could be someplace else or purely imaginary, but it looks damn close to where i busked. like, it flipped the nostalgia "oh i haven't been home in a while" switch in my brain
Fair enough! I suppose I had a more surface-level interpretation of the post than you, just seeing how much more appealing the area looked without all the big roads. I can see how you could think the post is misleading.
Workers and Resources: Soviet Republic does the walkable city simulator game really well. If you have enough walking paths, and mass transit, the only things using your roads are the work trucks, fire trucks, and police horses (because fuck the virtual police as well)
you know what you just made me want? a version of... fuck what's that game. oblivion. where all the guards are horses. but nothing else changes. I would like to commission a mod. also a modder to help me get the damn thing to run on my pc.
scratch that i would also like to add a dating sim so you can date the horses.
