For Siegfrieda I guess the foundation is her own name?

(Not in the pic: Schweinekatze, Arschkopf, Escandalosa. Sorry for not translating some/all, but it's a bloody mess.)

For Kika it's any word with /ʃ/ or /ʒ/ lying around. We called her "gata chata" (annoying cat) so much she started associating the sound with "humans want to give me petting/attention/food".

Arschkopf

TF did she do to deserve that

[–] lvxferre@mander.xyz 4 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

The same she did to deserve "escandalosa" (scandalous): howling because my mum went to the market, to the point it annoyed me... and Kika (the other cat). Kika woke up, walked to Frieda, pawed Frieda twice, then went back to sleep; as if saying "you bloody loud kid, shut the fuck up!".

Aaargh the desire to talk about my cats vs the reluctance to share PII

Then there's Daphne, or Daph, Daffodil, Daphodile, dill pickle

Scrappy is Scrappy Doo, Scraps, Scribbles, Scrape, and Shitbird/Pissbird, depending on which one he's doing on the stairs

[–] TherapyGary@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 2 days ago

frederick beauregard (when he's naughty)

Hah, I wonder how common that is. Had a foster cat named Ham, or Hampson for long, but we'd call him Hampson Jones when he wasn't listening, and Hampson Jones Beauregard when he's being naughty

Leo (real name)

Leonardo

DiCaprio

DaVinci (I string the previous three together when I need to use his government name. Leonardo DiCaprio DaVinci, get down!!)

Scar (Was supposed to be his name because of a giant scar that went down the back of his neck. The story is his mother caught him acting up and got a little too rough with discipline. Left a big scar from the back of his head down his neck. Poor puppy.)

Calibo (Some gibberish my brother calls him every once in a while.)

This is Roogie, short for Arugula. Roogie becomes Roog Boog. Or Roogie Boogie. Or Roogbert.

Or if he's feeling spicy he's Roogiberto.

*edited formating.

[–] Zoop@beehaw.org 2 points 2 days ago

My current cats are Tiabeanie and Rayla.

Tiabeanie is known as bean, bean sprout, sprout town, bean town, beanie baby, beanie butt, baby butt, sproutsalot, lil booger bean, tiny butt, and lady meows.

Rayla is known as Ray-bay (used to be “Ray-be” like baby, but it sounds like rabies), Rayla banana, banana, bananajam, stinky butt, and various other things when she’s annoying which is an absolute ton. I wouldn’t say banana is in any way related to Rayla name-wise, I started using it as a joke “because banana rhymes with Rayla!” (It doesn’t at all, for you ESL folks)

Sometimes pet nicknames start from their government name, but her nickname of Muppet is based on her being a Muppet and not her legal name at all!
