According to Jason La Confora (take it for what it’s worth), Belichick is supposedly interested in coaching the Bears. Personally, I’d take a pass, but it’s a very oddly specific rumor. The only way I’d even entertain the possibility is if McDaniels came back as his OC and he didn’t insist on personnel responsibilities.

Personally, I want an offensive minded head coach from the Shanahan tree. I won’t be impressed by a defensive hire, barring something crazy happening like Buffalo cutting McDermott loose. Hiring a defensive guy in his 70s just doesn’t make sense.

His too strong a personality for the McCaskey's, they would never hire someone like that. Rather these meek nice quiet types

Perhaps the greatest to ever do it compared to the hot offensive guru of the moment?

Yeah, I’m hiring Belichick. There’s always another hot OC to hire if it doesn’t work out

Doubt hes actually interested. Love seeing people passing on one of if not the GOAT coach. At the very least hes had the GOAT defenses for many years, id take him in a heartbeat

You’d take a pass on the greatest coach of all time

You lost me at “Jason La Confora”

[–] Supraman83@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I dont buy but also dont want anything to do with him. Most (not all) of the current good HCs are young and innovative.

“Belichick is supposedly interested …”

Bill Belichick is the last guy on Earth who would share this sort of interest - especially in the middle of a football season.

[–] NotNick_Foles@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Does anyone have a link to La Canfora actually saying this? Doesn’t seem real at all

According to Jason La Confora (take it for what it’s worth)

That’s worth literally nothing

Belichick would never come to this dumpster fire of an organization. Imagine CHOOSING to work for the McCaskeys if you're Belichick.

[–] TomOgir@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

No. What has Bill done without Brady, a dominant D, clutch kicker, and stealing signs?

[–] BrohanM@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Ben Johnson or riot

I’d bring him in as a consultant if he gets canned mid season which was rumored. Coaching? I’m not sure that’s a good idea. He once was known for having his teams be the most prepared in football. He put tremendous pressure on himself, his coaches and players. I don’t know if he can do that any more to the level he once did.

BTW, there is a coach via both the Belichick (TE coach) and Shanahan tree (through McVay) who might be a better candidate than most. Shane Waldron. I’m mystified why he’s not considered a better candidate than Ben Johnson (though there’s a lot to like). Designed, runs and calls his own offense in Seattle. Similar system to what the Bears run now. Resurrected Geno Smith’s career. Worked for the best offensive mind in football (McVay) and two great defensive HC (Belichick and Carrol).

LOL.

Are we going to just ignore the fact that OP really just said he wanted Josh McDaniels to be our OC???

[–] AdStreet2074@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Doesn’t Matter unless he gets a good QB, and it’s definitely not Fields

[–] lVlICHA3L@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

We don't have Tom Brady.

[–] Kysorer@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He will retire a Patriot, if he had any desire to leave he’d have done that already.

And even if he could come to Chicago, I wouldn’t want him in the slightest. Dude is becoming more and more exposed the longer he goes without Tom Brady. Anybody that hires Bill O’Brien to be an OC (who quite literally destroyed the Texans as a franchise for years) is not a HC I’d want on a modern NFL team.

[–] lkn240@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It would never happen and he's too old.

The only types of teams that it would make sense for are teams like the chargers who have talent but are poorly coached.

[–] blipsman@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Bringing in a coach who should be retiring — he’s 71 — to try and build a young team into a contender makes as little sense as the White Sox hiring Tony LaRussa did. Which is to say no sense at all.

It is crazy the rumors coming out about Belichick. Now these rumors i dont believe at all, same with the rumors of him being let go in season. But i think this may be his final year and i think he retires. I dont see him going to another team unless he has a drive to prove he didnt need Brady and tries to do what brady did by going somewhere else and winning a super bowl. His numbers without Brady at QB are very mediocre and i think he is pass his prime as a coach. So no, i would not want him on the Bears. Give me a younger offensive minded coach that can maybe be in the job for a decade.

[–] johnnybadapple@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Bears outsider Jason La Confora.

[–] Gleasonryan@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

You’d want to bring McDaniels in after what just happened with the Raiders? He lost the entire locker room in just over a year. They roasted his ass so hard and tossed him to the curb.

[–] Headwallrepeat@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Remember when Flus coached circles around him last year on Monday night? Pepperidge Farms remembers.
