Adguard. Lifetime is 50% off during the holidays. Up to 9 devices. I can’t live without out it. Bravo browser claims to block ads, but google feels just right.
1Blocker + NextDNS! Best duo ever
Adguard DNS proxy on iPhone &/or AdBlock DNS block on your router incase you have openwrt installed
r/vpn and r/AdBlock are good subs to start with.
Use Firefox and add a browser extension
Ghostery is free and works great for me. Even works for YouTube as long as you're opening it from Safari.
Firefox Focus for safari
Wipr is king. Maybe not as robust as other offerings like a custom NextDNS blocklist or AdGuard, but it is the best set it and forget it blocker.
Try nextdns.io
It’s an adblocker at the dns level. I’ve used it for 2-3 years now. Every once in a while I’ll click an ad in search results and it throws up a message about not being able to connect. If I want to actually go there, I’ll set dns back to default and then do what I need and turn it back on. I’d rather that than all the damn ads. It’s not 100%, due to all the different kinds of ads, but it’s the best I’ve found. It also very customizable if you want to spend the time tweaking it.
I'm having a good experience with Arc Browser's built in ad blocking on both desktop and ios
I have been using AdGuard and it’s working well
AdGuard is the only one you will ever need.
Edit: You can even Self-Host it at the network level!
Wipr for Safari and I host PiHole at home so most ads are zapped on my network.
1Blocker
I use 1Blocker too but noticed that I can only open some apps if it’s disabled which is annoying because there’s an app I use for work sometimes 3-4 times a day and have to go in and manually disable it in the app and turn the vpn off in the iPhone settings. Haven’t noticed much of a difference with the blocker since getting it tho
Thanks for the post. I never think about getting ad blocker but since I read this post and the comments, I tried installing one too and that’s Wipr. Already tried that now and I’m really impressed. No more annoying ads on anime sites. Gotta share this to my sisters later so they can get theirs also.
I use Adguard for Safari.
NextDNS seems to work great since it's fully customiseable. It can block ads (except very few apps like YouTube & Spotify, no DNS blockers can block those), it can block certain domains, and trackers.
I use Surfshark VPN it has an ad blocker functionality as well and it also blocks in app ads
I just use Pi-Hole
Using AdGuard. It’s been amazing. Blocks ads in app and also in safari.
Adguard public dns. Install the profile and block ads everywhere, for free.
I use ProtonVPN to block ads, but if you don’t wanna pay for a VPN then get an adblocker.
The best solution is to use both WIPR and AdGuard.
or NextDNS
Happy with AdGuard. Comes with VPN
Does any Asblocker block pups after clicking by something? For example after clicking play on a video a lot of sites have adapted to open an ad in a new tab? The Safar popup blocker doesn’t detect it since I technically clicked the link that has a target to open in new tab.
It is super annoying though
Nextdns for home and profiles for all your devices. Done. $20/yr
AdGuard Pro
RethinkDNS with the OISD tracker enabled. Can download the Apple config on your phone.
i just use the bear - BlockBear! just activate and let the bear do it's job :D
I use proton vpn, which blocks ads pretty well. It does cost and not sure if it’s cheaper or more expensive than wipr or NextDNS but at least alternative?
Nobody ever mentions this but FireFox focus has a safari extension for ad blocking. It's really quite good and almost never beaks a page like some of the others I have used. Very low key and just usually works and is free.
I use ExpressVPN, and they recently rolled out ad blocking as a part of their service. I don’t know how it compares to others ad blocking services, but it’s an option
AdBlocker but with the DNS profile installed on my phone.

Orion browser with the proper Ublock extension
For Safari I‘m team Wipr too for quite some time now and works great for me. For blocking ads in Apps I use my VPN (for instance some free games annoy you with ads every few seconds but with VPN these ads are not loading and therefore don’t annoy me).
I use AdGuard, with Safari extension and DNS filter.
For ads embedded in the app, DNS level blocking might be the only choice on iPhone.
I’ve used Crystal and 1Block Legacy for so many years now and I never get ads. It doesn’t work 100% for YouTube in Safari but a single refresh always gets rid of ads in videos. Those two, IMO, are the best out there. They’ve always just worked since I installed them.
Brave
I use adjured and stopthemadness. Seems to work very well together. Heard Wipr is also very good.
Adguard dns
1Blocker
I use NextDNS for all my system wide DNS based Ad Blocking. Works like a charm.
