Big, fast, great hands

he sport good
Bruh, all these responses and no mention of playing with the most accurate QB of all time…
He was an athletic monster, for sure, but Payton also had Brees to help make things work. Jimmy wouldn’t have been anything without Drew.
Can’t remember the guys name but there’s a player who only played basketball in college that got drafted into the nfl. Believe he played for Washington? I can’t remember honestly
Real big, fantastic athlete, was super efficient in college despite low volume, plus it was the Saints that drafted him. Sean Payton's entire offense was built around creating mismatches, and Graham was a matchup nightmare -- too fast and shifty for LB coverage, too big for DB coverage, redzone TD machine. We had Colston dominating in a similar role, so Graham just added another layer of that. Two big-bodied receiving threats like them on the field meant that we didn't need guys like Henderson and Meachem to be anything other than fast.
Also he was a 3rd round pick. He's more like the TE version of Cardale Jones but actually good. His 17 career receptions in college resulted in over 200 yards and 5 TD's.
College is nice but not the end all be all in terms of prep for the pro game.
He was 6’7 and ran a 4.5.
You know all those times when a guy gets drafted with elite measurables and questionable skill and people berate their GM when it's predictably a hard bust?
It's because every now and then, that guy turns out to be Jimmy Graham.
He was so freaking good with Drew Brees
Same way Antonio Gates did
As a basketball player he knew he would miss 100% of the shots he didn't take
George Fant, who’s currently the starting Right Tackle for the Texans and previously the Seahawks and Jets, is even more crazy.
George Fant went to college at Western Kentucky. He was listed as a TE. He played in two career college games and his cumulative official stats in college was 1 catch for 7 yards, and he also had two tackles lol
Athlete.
Two of the best TEs in the league were Tony Gonzalez and Antonio Gates, both played college basketball, so there were teams willing to take a chance on other potential basketball to football converts.
Matt Cassel never threw a Touchdown in college
Dave Casper had like 7 and played OT his first three years at Notre Dame
Look up Antonio Gates college stats.
He was highly scouted out of college as an extremely dynamic athlete due to his history of playing several successful years of college tennis.
Not just go pro, but was a 3rd round pick. He was picked ahead of guys like Everson Griffen, Geno Atkins, Kam Chancellor, etc...
He played basketball in college.
Antonio Gates had 0 receptions in college
Zero rosters too lol
He had a lot of potential. Ended up on a team with a great quarterback. Just coulldn't block very well.
He played Basketball 4 years and only had 42 less receptions than Kelce. It's all about development and work ethic to get better
Combine
502 rebounds.
Freak of nature athlete, look at jordan mailata you can teach technique you can’t teach size and athleticism
Measurables.
Also football is a sport where you can produce like a scrub or star depending on whatever coaching scheme you're in.
George kittle had 48 career college catches.
He was a really good basketball player.
Do you know how many football receptions TE Antonio Gates had at Kent State?
Same way Gates did with zero games played
I think he was a basketball star. Correct if I'm wrong. Nfl used to love converting basketball stars into TEs.
More like TE version of Matt Cassel since Trey Lance actually had stats in college.
Pretty sure he still had more receptions than Jordan Mailata had snaps at tackle…considering he didn’t even play American football before the NFL. Some guys are just built for the game, and GMs thus take notice of them. Night Train Lane basically made the NFL using a scrapbook as his résumé.
Gates had 0 receptions in college. freak athletes.
At least he played college ball. Marcus Pollard played in parts of 14 seasons, mostly with the Colts. He went to a college (Bradley) that doesn't even have a football program.
Traits player.
You’ve never seen I’m in person have you 🤣
George Kittle only had 48 receptions
Jimmy Graham is massively disrespected in NFL circles and gets little recognition. The man is 4th all time in TDs and 7th all time in yards for Tight ends. Hall of fame worthy
Can't teach measurables and he has everything you want in a TE.
same way jordan mailata did
How do we know Trey Lance isn’t good? He hasn’t gotten much of a chance
