Why doesn't that top part belong to Wisconsin again
During the colonial period there was a dispute between the state of Ohio and the territory of Michigan over Toledo with both claiming it and Ohioβs members of Congress blocked Michigans admission as a state over it. Eventually Congress declared Toledo part of Ohio but as recompense Michigan got the Upper Peninsula, whose people were pissed because they originally wanted to be part of the future Wisconsin state or a state in their own right.
Because states and stuff. My grandma grew up in the Iron River so I am an authority on these issues
