Well, I've closed the windows, turned off the lights and locked the door over at r/askelectronics (sub is now private). Let's see how this unfolds...

Hello, do you guys have the sub wiki saved? It would be great if we had it here too. I spent 2 hours yesterday taking screenshots and saving links of the entire wiki before you guys locked the door xD

You did my day, thanks bro. It´s sad that Reddit is doing a corporate suicide.

[–] linker3000@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Good call that it's on The Internet Archive.

Not sure about reproducing it here (via a link to somewhere hosting it); We would have to check whether Reddit has a claim over it, even though it was compiled by many mods and Redditors. I'll check their terms of service.

Reddit's Terms of Service do appear to imply that the wiki cannot be brought elsewhere...

"you may not...prepare derivative works of, disassemble, decompile, or reverse engineer any part of the Services or Content..."

Does buzzfeed know? (Or any other 'news ' site that gets their content from Reddit)

Gotta get rid of Soldersnoo icon here!

Well, hello there.

I guess I'll get back to my breadboard while we wait and see what happens next...

Hey, I haven't been on Ask Electronics on Reddit but the topic sounds interesting. Could you tell me a bit more about the kind of questions that would be OK to ask or what this specifically should be about?

[–] collegefurtrader@discuss.tchncs.de 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Have you ever tried to identify a connector? /u/DavideAndrea wrote the book

Oh wow, I didn't know that and certainly almost nothing about those kind of things in general. Guess I'll be more of a lurker then and excited to see what you guys have to discuss.

Hi!

Are you planning to keep the same rules as the old reddit sub? Or will this be more casual for a while?

[–] Faceman2K23@discuss.tchncs.de 5 points 2 years ago

probably due to the significantly lower traffic here it will probably manage without for now.

[–] DavideAndrea@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I haven't even thought about it, actually.

Hey I got a little popup on my phone when you replied.

Im trying to get up to speed with lemmy. First impression it’s a bit clunky on mobile.

Took several tries to connect to this place from my lemm.ee account, but I'm here now.

👍 for closing the subreddit. I've been trying to stop using reddit in general anyway, so happy to move over here if people stay.

Wow I was just given access. Finally rid of the old site, looking forward to learning how this works

Glad to see you keep going.
