A few weeks ago I submitted a request to Reddit for a copy of my data. In the meantime I got bored of waiting and deleted my account. I thought I would not receive my data, but yesterday I woke up to an email with a link to a file with all my data in!

So to all those who are waiting to receive your data before deleting your account, as long as you have a verified email address associated with your account, you can go ahead and delete your account and you’ll still receive your data!

Tbf, I didn’t delete any of my data before I deleted my account. We know all a deleted users comments are still there because how many times have you seen a comment with a username of [deleted]? I don’t know what may have been if I had deleted all my comments and posts before I’d requested the data dump.

That's why you over write your comments first.. Reddit was always like this

Trying to figure out how to set this up. Got my GDPR files, but instructions seem really involved. Wish there was a video or photo guide.

Are you on windows and do you have the .exe.

I wrote this help comment as it helped me was a Windows user but still a bit involved if your not use to batch files and command prompt
