I got a laptop I've been postponing the final switch, because I dont want to deal with corrupted home directory configs. But windows is pushing me over the edge. I have an Nvidia card I'll probably use for machine learning, probably not gaming. I like pop os, but hate gnome, I just want a simple xfce de.

Then I thought, why not vanilla arch, but maintenance and often shit internet will probably make me loath it or mess up something. EOS looked interesting, but long term survivability bothers me about it too, also not really sure if their own repo adds anything except another security vulnerability.

Fedora, but then probably less compatibility unless I'm using flatpaks, and it's just left a bad taste in my mouth with many issues over the years.

Finally, I take and edit photos and don't see a truly good replacement for photoshop, gimp is...gimpped. and darktablr or rawtherapee will take a while for me to replace lightroom with
