Not even in the pre-Super Bowl era did the Steelers axe a coach midseason

However bad you thought Canada was, he was worse

what will the cope be when Pickett is still subpar? Missed many open receivers so many times.

this is the steelers super bowl

[–] better-call-mik3@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

What makes this worse is that the Steelers were an historic dumpster fire before the merger and no one then was fired until Canada

[–] losterps@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Couldn't have happened to a better guy

[–] SiphenPrax@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Are the Steelers finally changing the way they do business (even slightly)?

[–] KiteStringPopped@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

He might want to leave this off his resume.

[–] CouchPotatoFamine@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

No worries, in Pop Warner you just have to pass a background check.

[–] Steak_Knight@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (9 children)

And now we can finally stop hearing about how the Steelers will never fire someone mid season.

[–] kdorsey0718@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I don't know many fans that would brag about it. There are certainly many fans who have called for many coordinators to be axed mid-season. I think Canada was just the worst of the bunch.

[–] Danominator@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Is this a joke or do their fans actually brag about that

[–] asatrocker@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (3 children)

And starting hearing about the Bears new HC, Matt Canada

[–] Pidesh@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It would fit in our recent trend of hiring guys named Matt to be our HC

Got a minute to hear about the bears and Luke Getsy, friend?

[–] jake3988@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Just takes historical levels of ineptitude. Simple.

[–] mikenesser@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Can the Chargers do it next? Please?

Really no excuse to not have done it last offseason.

Bears, take notes.

[–] holytrolly_@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

This is the worst news I could have received today.

Will he be replaced by Ron Mexico?

[–] Longjumping_Zone_400@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Mr Broken Contract

[–] Professional_Low4894@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (4 children)

kenny pickett needs to he next

[–] BlackDS@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

KP has sucked but maybe we can give him a week or two off and try him again with the new OC. He'll never be "the guy" but he can still grow.

[–] cesc05651@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Fields for a 3rd who says no? It may not work but it’ll be alot of fun

[–] SayNoToStim@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

His name is "pick it," how did anyone ever let him play QB

[–] ronaldthedumbass@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He'll buy himself a little more time after throwing 4 TDs against the Colts in a few weeks

[–] keepcominback2030@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Can we add this to Myles Garrett’s DPOTY resume?

Biggest blow to Canada since the Americans sacked Toronto during the War of 1812.

[–] Razzorsharp@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I'm confused? Am I supposed to see the sacking of Toronto as good thing or a bad thing? (Am Canadian by the way)

[–] lazysheepdog716@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Shout out my Buffalonian ancestors.

[–] sportsdiceguy@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Wait, America sacked Toronto during the war of 1812?

Gotta be the first time in golden knights history...

[–] BlindWillieJohnson@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

And it should have happened sooner. Stability is good; doubling down on what isn't working in the name of stability is not.

[–] Fineous4@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

lol Steelers are the new browns

[–] thereandfatagain@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Despite this we have also sucked beans at severing ties with our legendary coordinators.

Bruce Arians “retired” and Dick LeBeau “resigned”

[–] DrZeuss4@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Can the Bears be the second please?

[–] AMWChicago@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Alright Pace. Your up.

[–] itsme32@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Outside of when in 1941 part owner Bart Bell fired himself.

[–] Steeltown842022@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Tomlin needs to be next!

[–] jyozefu@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

HEY VIRGINIA! LOOK RIGHT HERE. THIS IS HOW YOU S DO IT.

[–] Winterclaw42@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

If they kept him around any longer, steelers fans would have realized they were waving Canada towels and that would have hurt merch sales.

[–] WizardofBoswell@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

This is actually more remarkable pre-1970 considering we might have been the worst professional sports team in the US in the 40 years before Chuck Noll

[–] Quiet_Garage_7867@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

At least one team isn't afraid to make decisions like this to improve their plays.

[–] diyerpgh@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Too bad it’s not going to make a difference. Pickett is the issue. He’s not a franchise quarterback.

[–] conceited_king_@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

We need to do this with Brian Johnson

[–] Spiegs1984@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Technically they fired their special teams coordinator in 1989, but who's fact checking these days right?

[–] pearskrof@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I wonder what the new excuse will be when Kenny will still be bad. Tomlin? Lol
