I’ve been thinking about this a lot and finally decided to look up the actual numbers. Since we drafted Justin Fields in 2021 our starting QB W-L records are:

Trevor Siemian 0-1

Nathan Peterman 0-1

Nick Foles 1-0

Tyson Bagent 2-2

Andy Dalton 3-3

Justin Fields 6-26

It’s kind of ridiculous that over the past 3 years we are 6-26 when Fields starts while being 6-7 when he doesn’t start. I know wins and losses aren’t completely on the QB, but this is a huge disparity

I’m a big fan of Fields. I think he’s a good leader and dynamic runner. He’s got a strong arm. But he still lacks as a passer. I feel like too often he doesn’t get the ball to open receivers and that he too often looks to run while eschewing the pass

And just for comparison, Trubisky was 29-21 through 4 years as a starter

I know we have other issues, but I think I am ready to move on from Fields. Probably want to move on from Eberflus too. I’m not sure about Poles, but I’m leaning towards keeping him. I feel like we have some good, young talent. Just not at QB

It's crazy how Fields has an extremely hot trade market, but our meatball fan base thinks he isn't good. We clearly don't deserve a good QB

What's come out about his trade market? I haven't heard anything about it

  1. To everyone downvoting me, you're the problem. You see a super dynamic QB, who has made elite level throws with a great work ethic. But because his first 2 seasons had objectively bottom 3 talent in the league and his last 2 seasons had the worst coaching in Bears history (says a lot), you're ready to throw that away because of "6-26" and then use Herbert as an example of overcoming when his team has always had way more talent and Staley, who sucks, but is way better than Eberflus (ahd STILL has a losing record).
  1. Denying there's a trade market is a bit ridiculous. Scouts don't even feel like it's wise to get rid of Fields. Here's some sources. Get out of the Bears bubble and think holistically. Teams like Falcons, Raiders, Steelers, Bucs, Vikings, and Seahawks would love to get a stab at a super talented QB with their rosters.

What is the hot trade market? I haven’t heard any rumors at all. Genuinely curious what you’ve heard.

I do take offense to your meatball comment and insinuation that we don’t deserve a good QB. I’m not shitting on Fields. I want him to become our true franchise QB. But I’m doubting he will be. Thinking his 6-26 record s not good enough isn’t remotely a meatball take

The big problem we have had with our QBs is that they don't know how to cycle thru their progressions. And if you can't get it by now, you're not going to get it. Fields has a great arm and is a great runner, but he's not a great QB. I think it's time to move on. But not just from him, but the coaching staff as well

A lot of those games were mostly not his fault, and I think the backups often played some of the easier games, but 6-26 is pretty striking

Yeah, that’s what I’ve thought too. But when we’ve been basically a 500 team when he doesn’t start, it’s kinda scary.

I still hope he goes on a run to end this season and gives us hope for the future. But I’m starting to think that won’t happen

Justin Fields is not our answer at QB but Wins are not a QB stat.

I did mention that in my post. But I do feel the difference between .461 and .188 is significant. Especially when comparing the same team and coaches

“Probably” want to move on from Eberflus? I mean, is there even a debate on this? Otherwise I’m like you, I feel bad for Fields, and think at least half of his problems are coaching, but I’m ready to move on.
