Stroud is balling out. He also seems to have some good weapons and O line is solid. With that said , the bears don’t seem to know how to evaluate QBs.

I would go back and not get Moore and Wright for the chance to draft Stroud.

Hindsight is 20/20 but it’s starting to look like Maholmes/Watson all over again

100% yes

Stroud is a superstar qb

[–] porkbellies37@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Will Levis is also quietly looking like a bona fide QB. If we're really going to play this game, would you do the trade and select Will Levis instead of Darnell Wright, not do the trade and select Stroud, or do the trade as is? (At the time, we probably could have traded Fields straight up for the rights to take Levis.)

-Just illustrating how easy it is to drive in reverse. :)

[–] One_Crow_3568@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

No Moore Wright Stevenson 2024 1st 2024 4th 2025 2nd and we get Stroud? Intriguing but I do think Fields is the guy we just know Fluse ain’t it

[–] forgotmyoldname90210@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Obviously but Poles would have been killed for making the best move.

Funny how everyone forgot their opinions on Stroud before the draft. I was one of the Strouds biggest defenders across reddit but its not like I was saying he would be a MVP candidate as a rookie. I said S2 is stupid, the rumors are dumb and he throws a pretty ball at all levels of the field.

It was easily 90% in favor of Young. There was more love for AR.

[–] Disconnected_NPC@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Right now, no... Im old enough to remember the Carson Wentz and the many others that were before him.

Slowik hasnt been figured out, which benefits CJ. I want to see what happens when teams have a good amount of tape on them and make them play outside current comfort zone.

[–] LtDanMrWhite@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Nope, with our current (coaching) staff, Stroud would have probably "busted" same as JF.

[–] MeaningConstant27@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Quick Question: What’s with the extra good evaluations of other QBs games to slight Justin Fields?

I AM A BEARS FAN FIRST…..I WANT TO WIN NO MATTER WHO THE QB IS…….its getting strange.

[–] KoalaSyrah@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He's played 11 games. Granted he's played great, but let's not put him in the HoF yet. With Moore and Wright, the Bears are geared towards the future.

[–] fiveironfreshy@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Good lord mods can we just ban hindsight draft posts already?

[–] TerrrorTown75th@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

They literally serve no purpose

[–] dpittnet@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

What’s the point of this post?

[–] TerrrorTown75th@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Circle jerk Fields hate post obviously.

[–] id10t_you@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

JFC, this sub. If we're not reliving 85, we're posting bullshit like this that does nothing but wish for a fucking time machine.

I'm going to say no, strictly because I believe that this current staff is awful and would have greatly hindered or hurt stroud. Hopefully new staff next year may be better

[–] nofzac@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Getsy and Flus would have Stroud looking like Bryce Young.

[–] Upset_Researcher_143@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

No. We would have ruined him. Just because a guy is awesome on another team, doesn't mean he's be good on your team

[–] Bushido_Plan@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Think about the other side, with hindsight as well, would the Texans do that? 100% no.

[–] JakeLake720@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Absolutely. Whoever says no is just wrong. Stroud is the real deal.

[–] ghosthiker@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

If I had the ability to apply perfect hindsight to my decisions, I wouldn't be wasting my time in a Bears reddit sub.

[–] Critical-Adhole@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Not if we get Caleb Williams. If we miss on Caleb than hell yes.

[–] SheWantsTheDrose@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

With 20/20 hindsight, 100% yes. However, we made the right decision at the time (just imagine drafting Bryce young instead of trading down)

[–] Standard_Employee751@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I’d go back and take Carter+Dawand

[–] lkn240@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Of course you would. Hindsight being 20/20 and all that.

Anyone who disagrees is a fucking idiot.

That being said, I'm still ok with what the Bears did - it made sense based on where they were.

[–] bigmayne23@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

No

The one change id have made from the draft is picking carter instead of trading back a second time

[–] GrizzlyAdam12@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

What makes you think that the Bears coaching staff could get the same production out of Stroud that Houston does?

[–] MikeBinfinity@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

LMAO people don't want to answer that question because it breaks down their whole argument.

[–] TLEH-IV@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Anyone saying no doesn't understand modern football. Unfortunately it was never really an option and I don't hold it against Poles.

[–] xtow16@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

1000%. A franchise QB is THE most important part of an NFL team and nothing else is even close

[–] RumpleForskin3@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

No, the Texans are also clearly well coached, run a modern offense, and have some talent at WR. None of those things apply to the Bears, especially the last point if they don’t make that trade.

[–] generation_D@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Yes. No question. Not that I’m criticizing Poles for not taking Stroud, but this is an obvious yes for me

[–] halfcastdota@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

absolutely, anyone saying no is just coping hard. Stroud is in the MVP contention as a fucking rookie.

[–] Tools81@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

At this point, yes. However, should Williams or Maye be the pick this draft and play at a similar level, ultimately that would be the better scenario as a whole.

[–] PianoEmeritus@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Stroud is balling his way into MVP talks on the only roster that was arguably worse than the Bears last year, with a defensive head coach, and people are saying still no

I constantly feel like I’m taking crazy pills on this sub

[–] MikeBinfinity@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Who the Bears had last year that is close to Tank Dell?

Who the Bears had last year who is close to Will Anderson?

Yall crying for Eberflus to be fired, but think that if he had C.J. Stroud then the Bears would be over .500.

Make this shit make sense.

[–] PianoEmeritus@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

The Bears would’ve drafted a day two receiver if they didn’t get Moore, obviously, maybe even Dell himself, who knows. Dell, Mooney, and Kmet would be better than Dell, Collins, and Schultz IMO.

I’m not sure how Will Anderson makes Stroud better. Also didnt say the Bears would be over .500.

[–] MikeBinfinity@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

That's some extreme copium. You're saying that coaching is not a problem here when it clearly is.

[–] hammerSmashedNail@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

If the bears don’t get the qb right hindsight will haunt us. We haven’t seen it here but teams with QBs that take over games 7 or 8 games a year are fun to watch. You’ll rarely hear about a team with a franchise qb having no chance to win a game. We’re playing the ghost of the Vikings and we’re thinking that if everything goes right we could win, maybe. Or everything could go right and we lose like the lions game. If CJ Stroud was slotted to be qb1 without Wright and Moore we would be talking about how many points are going to win by.

[–] Puqah@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

no im getting used to being depressed about my football team

[–] ScruffMixHaha@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

In a vacuum where Stroud is the exact same player he is in Houston? Absolutely.

In reality where hes stuck with our garbage coaching staff who is one foot out the door? Probably not, but I dont think anybody saying take Stroud is wrong.

[–] y_wont_my_line_block@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

If I could know for certain CJ Stroud would look this good, idk maybe. But no one really thought the Bears should have stayed at 1 and drafted CJ Stroud at the time.

But I would have no regrets about the process. Poles is going to look like the smartest GM in the NFL if they draft a QB in 2024 that works out.

[–] who_ate_the_pizza@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I think it's too hard to answer that question with so many other variables. The Bears coaching staff is historically bad, so that's a factor. Tank Dell and Stroud have a lot of chemistry, that is a factor. Stroud is in year 1 and, yes, looks really really good, but without another 2 years of this type of play it's hard to say that he's the guy. That last one is probably debatable given how incredibly well he's played, but it IS possible that he "reverts to the mean". To me, 12 games just isn't enough to say definitively that he's your franchise QB. He probably is in this case, but I'd like to see another full season of this production.

To try to give you a real answer in spite of all what is above, I probably would go back and take him. He's looked so outstanding for Houston on a team that no one thought would win a damn thing, with players no one knew about. To me he looks like a Burrow type of pick. If the Bears had him I'd just say fire the whole coaching staff, fire Poles, through the old lady off the bleachers and let's fuckin get shit done.

[–] Kirko_Bangz_@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Stroud is technically worth everything we got and more so it comes down to what you think Caleb or Drake will be. If they are a hit then waiting a year would have been worth the other holes we got to fill.

[–] moneyman2222@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

We weren't in the market for a QB at the time so it's a worthless question and needs to stop being asked because it's building a false narrative as if were even considering it at the time

[–] Jaxson_GalaxysPussy@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It depends. Are the mcckaseys still the owners?

[–] WhiteDogSh1t@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Does it come with Ryans as the head coach?

[–] MeaningConstant27@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

I like how everybody keeps saying the Texans O-Line is just solid. I’ve been watching every Houston game since Week 4, STROUD DOES NOT GET TOUCHED AT ALL! They maybe solid but they’re playing elite. Tunesil, Mason and Taylor were all highly touted at one point. Somebody wanted to argue me because Stroud got sacked 2x yesterday on obvious passing downs because they were losing. Slowik deserves a lot of credit as well. There’s an extreme benefit to protecting your young QB. Stroud’s clock isn’t sped up and he doesn’t have to scramble around looking for open receivers. He would be a dead man behind our O-line.

We probably would have taken Brice Young if we took a QB, so whatever.

[–] PwnzillaGorilla@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Fuck no. Getsy would've ruined Stroud the same way he's ruined Fields.

[–] Broshan248@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

This might be a hot take but I still wouldn’t. We have arguably the worst head coach in the NFL, and without Moore and Wright we have a bottom 5 WR group and bottom 10 OL. We would be putting Stroud in the same position the Panthers put Young in. Neither Stroud nor Young would be putting up good numbers here.

[–] The_Wata_Boy@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Anyone who watches the NFL/Draft coverage knew Stroud was never going to go #1. Dude was ranked #4-8 on most prospect boards and was not the #1 QB.

So no, I don't think about this since it was never going to happen. What could have happened is we took Bryce Young and missed out on Moore and Wright. Otherwise, Will Anderson would be a Bear.
