Evernote has just been abysmal lately that I took all my notes and left. They've been getting so annoyingly greedy that it's just unusable now.

  • Every time I open the app it spawns a pop-up ad telling me there's a limited time offer that will disappear if I close the ad, trying to FOMO people into buying it now

  • They slowly restricted usage on devices to just being logged into 2 at the same time. Oh, and you can't just keep swapping between them because there's a cooldown (buy premium NOW!11!1!)

  • They completely ruined the minimal aesthetic it had going on and are shoving random features nobody asked for like AI cleanup and AI powered search

  • They constantly bait you into trying features and then telling you it's premium-only. They ruined the home screen but that's okay, you can just customize it- Oops! You need premium to save your settings.

Good riddance. No idea how anyone puts up with it anymore.

I left Evernote about 2 years ago. It was clear at the time that free users were only in the way. I can't imagine it being any easier to use.

Yeah, I left around the same and switched to OneNote which hass been working fine for my needs

Friendship ended with Evernote, now Logseq is my best friend.

I stopped using it years ago, however during ironically a month or so ago, going through my password manager, visiting sites I no longer use, to clean up my accounts evernote got chopped.

I'm sure most will scow at me, but I use google's keep for personal stuff, and ms one note for work these days.

Same. I used to use evernote a ton, but then they just kept removing and removing features. I swapped to google keep too about a couple years ago, right around when they added a limit of 2 devices using evernote.

They has rise the subscription plans and fired development team on USA and Chile. The shit electron apps has several memory leaks.

Standard Notes rules, open source and e2e encrypted.

Even if you aren't necessarily looking for a Foss/private stuff I think folks should know not to use evernote by now. It's been an ever-worsening garbage heap for a long time. When I was in highschool I used it a LOT for a while, and pretty quickly shitty changes started to become commonplace, and it's been exclusively downhill from there.

If you're still using it, its worth looking through the huge number of competitors for something else; you have no shortage of alternative options at this point
