The San Juan Islands are beautiful! Beach access at both, the islands break up the waves so they just gently lap at the shore. Lots of hills. It was challenging for a first timer who hates climbing but I'm ready to go suffer again ๐Ÿฆต๐Ÿฆต

First ferry ride First hiker biker campsite, San Juan County Park, Friday Harbor Second hiker/biker site Odlin County Park, Lopez Island Palindaba Lavender Farm

It was rad. Pretty much all but one or two drivers gave plenty of space when passing, too, which I'm not used to at all, it was wonderful

Is that a Surly Straggler frameset? I have the Straggler 2015 model in black, love it.

It is! I think the Glitter Dreams frame was one of the first of the Stragglers. It's been my only bike for the past 8 years, since my friend drunkenly crashed my Schwinn Super Sport (boo!). It would feel so weird to ride anything else!

I want to tweak it to make it more touring/bike packing friendly since it was originally built up for cyclocross. I just replaced the drive train recently, but I feel like I need another cog or two for climbing, it shifts super drastically between a couple cogs but I don't know much about gear ratios and all that

That looks lovely.

Looks like an amazing trip! What are you using to track your rides?

I use ridewithgps; it's pretty sweet, you can plan your own routes and save them for free if you do it on a desktop computer. Depending on where you live, though, Strava may be more popular.

Right on, thanks!
