This is a Dengist community in favor of Bashar al-Assad with no information that can lead to the arrest of Hillary Clinton, our fellow liberal and queen. This community is not ironic. We are Marxists-Leninists.

Lmfaooooo "democratic capitalism"

[–] WaterBowlSlime@lemmygrad.ml 38 points 2 years ago

The author thought the message sounded too ghoulish so they added the word "democratic" to soothe the brains of libs.

[–] PoY@lemmygrad.ml 27 points 2 years ago

of the rich, by the rich, and for the rich

[–] juchebot88@lemmygrad.ml 8 points 2 years ago

US ideology is such a weird mixture of "we're the master race" supremacy and smarmy HR speak.

[–] QueerCommie@lemmygrad.ml 35 points 2 years ago

It’s nice to see that most columnists have to admit they’d be doomed fighting China, as the empire has fallen to far already.

[–] CompadredeOgum@lemmygrad.ml 33 points 2 years ago (1 children)

interesting how that picture is desaturated.

[–] qwename@lemmygrad.ml 32 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

We call it the "BBC/nether filter", referring to how BBC turns all pictures and videos of China darker than original.

[–] LarkinDePark@lemmygrad.ml 25 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (4 children)

Remember when they were caught photoshopping geen trees in China grey?

[–] qwename@lemmygrad.ml 23 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

Haven't heard that one, but here's an example, on the left is BBC's Chinese version, on the left is the English version:

Original article: BBC sparks uproar in China for 'underworld filter' on Wuhan video https://www.globaltimes.cn/page/202102/1215710.shtml

[–] urshanabi@lemmygrad.ml 13 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Christ, this has to be a deliberate effort to present China negatively. Makes you wonder how the process looks when the decision making is going on. As well, whether the opposite happens for stories which they might want to show favourably, with additional saturation or whatnot.

[–] qwename@lemmygrad.ml 9 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

There's a famous book that goes into the details of this process, you may have even heard of it, Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell.

[–] DamarcusArt@lemmygrad.ml 9 points 2 years ago

Ironic that western governments seem to use that book as an instruction manual, and yet all the CHUDs who screech about it insist that every single one of the US's enemies are exactly like the book.

I member...That's how I found Living in China, so thanks, BSB News.

Edit: Changed video link to the tree one instead of playlist.

[–] Comrade_Vig@lemmygrad.ml 15 points 2 years ago

The video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=41e44JwMY6Y&list=PL6UESfsY6DFtN4rbXh3WYI8OEI78Lt9vi&index=6

The image in question:

The BBC article: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-china-57780023.amp?s=09

Now, one might assume that the Youtuber is lying, and this is definitely what any lib coming across the Youtube video would think, especially if they look up the article and notice the image is unaltered.

Think again, the BBC has since changed it back to the unaltered version, this shit is infuriating because, 1. anyone seeing this video would think the youtuber is lying, and 2. whoever read the article at first has already been lied to. Here is the article before the image was changed to the unaltered version (Likely in "response" to the Youtubers video, BBC obv. doesn't mention or apologize for this blatant disinformation): http://web.archive.org/web/20210711221132/https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-china-57780023

Initially, although only for a while since I am critical towards my sources, thought that he had lied after looking up the BBC article, shame on me ... But thank fuck for archive.org.

I decided to make this comment to anyone who may look it up.

[–] juchebot88@lemmygrad.ml 6 points 2 years ago

Hey, they're just trying to make China look like London so their audience feels at home

[–] qwename@lemmygrad.ml 31 points 2 years ago (1 children)

By "democratic capitalism" they actually mean bourgeois democratic dictatorship, as opposed to people's/proletariat democratic dictatorship.

[–] redtea@lemmygrad.ml 8 points 2 years ago

Democracy on the BlackRock board.

[–] Hexadecimalkink@lemmy.ml 28 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Democratic capitalism is a new euphemism for imperialism I see.

It's not new, it's just old white man's burden.

[–] CPCsStrongestWumao@lemmygrad.ml 28 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Anyone with a brain (i.e. anyone who isnt a liberal) already knew that the only reason we support Taiwan is to counter China kek

[–] Shrike502@lemmygrad.ml 23 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Problem is, a lot of people think it's a good enough reason

[–] quality_fun@lemmygrad.ml 11 points 2 years ago

in terms of geopolitics, it is.

[–] juchebot88@lemmygrad.ml 22 points 2 years ago (1 children)

If Americans want a "hard break," they'll first need a plan for building up their industrial base. And good luck with that -- the US government is not exactly famous for its competence or ability to mobilize the masses.

Or maybe they're hoping that the power of AI and NFTs is somehow going to magically save them? (It won't).

[–] redtea@lemmygrad.ml 9 points 2 years ago

Can you imagine the US state trying to teach the US public that liberal individualism doesn't work, after all. Good luck to 'em. It'll make our job easier.

[–] quality_fun@lemmygrad.ml 18 points 2 years ago

i'm surprised that it admits this.

[–] supersolid_snake@lemmygrad.ml 17 points 2 years ago

Democratic capitalism is when you can unilaterally decide to sanction a quarter of the world's population and force them to sell you even bananas for pennies on the dollar and then make fun of them for being banana republics.

[–] GarbageShootAlt@lemmygrad.ml 16 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Incidentally, this is a great argument to China that they shouldn't back down.

[–] redtea@lemmygrad.ml 13 points 2 years ago

The imperialists know their time is up. They have no more ideas. And they know that a hot war or direct confrontation of any kind with China will only hasten their demise. The world might finally know peace.

[–] DamarcusArt@lemmygrad.ml 8 points 2 years ago

They accidentally said the quiet part out loud.

[–] sinovictorchan@lemmygrad.ml 16 points 2 years ago

You mean that the USA's military invasion spending which exceeds the budget of 10 developed countries combined is unnecessary. That would make so called anti terrorist operation against freedom fighters who focus on non violent methods meaningless.

[–] YungKitaiski@lemmygrad.ml 5 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

"Yyyeaa even if they disarm we still gotta go and bomb em."

Edit: I'm saving this one, so that anytime libs hit me with the "China is just as bad for militarizing", I'm just gonna show them this.

Nice of them to admit the socialism is the problem they have with China every once in a while
