FWIW, my kids were shit talking that game and saying it was going to be so bad. They started playing the demo and actually like it. They say it needs some polish but it’s fun to play. They are big Sea of Thieves fans.

Oof, at least Sea of Thieves is (rumored to be) going cross platform!
Edit: Just watched Skill Up’s review and it looks pretty meh. Black flag did naval combat much better and this doesn’t even have the off-ship content like Sea of Thieves. Maybe okay on sale but the story is so strangely abstract that it can’t even save it. It’s only AAAA in budget.
Would be much better if Sea of Thieves got a PvE only mode though. Would love a chill sailing game without the anxiety of keeping an eye out for griefers.
It does have that, called Safer Seas. Does have some caveats like slower progression though.
