My heart breaks for all of my Arab and Palestinian neighbors and brothers and sisters right now.
I have been going to Palestine liberation marches since the early 2000s, and still this apartheid continues unabated. I have watched and helped Jewish and Israeli activists pour their hearts and souls into anti-occupation struggle, and have seen them run into the brick wall of racism, greed, indifference, and colonialism that defines Israeli policy.
I have re-printed thousands of pamphlets about the reality of life under occupation written by Israelis and Palestinians who recognize injustice when they see it. And still the injustice only gets worse.
My heart has been broken for Palestine my entire life, and yet it still somehow breaks over and over again.
I hope I get to see Palestinians living lives of freedom, hope, dignity, and happiness within my lifetime. I hope I get to see the Israelis who recognize the disgraceful nature of their society rest their weary hearts once Palestine is free. I hope I can do something to make that reality closer to being. And I hope that you will help me.
