Yes, you're correct, it goes much further back than FTP, all the way down to UNIX I believe. The problem was commands and parameters (options) which use a white space to seperate between them. So, filenames and directories were't allowed to have white spaces in them.

It's legacy, white spaces weren't allowed as characters on most FTP software, which is how the warez scene shares it's releases. It used to be underscores, but dots are closer to a white space regarding separation (space wise), so most release groups use dots nowadays.

Generally, a white space as a character in filenames and directories is "frowned upon" in many operating systems, Windows included (somewhat). It makes writing scripts and software more comlicated because it's used as as a separator for giving command line/terminal options to commands and binaries (programs).

So, I was riding with 2 cops in an elevator once and the floors are marked with roman numerals. I get off on the 9th floor (my condo), they pressed 11. One of them starts getting off the elevator with me and the other one says "dude, wait, we're not there yet", to which the first one says "wait, this is not 11?" and the other guy says "yeah 😒"... as I get off on my floor and the guy walks back in to ride to the 11th floor, I hear him say "fuck, what's wrong with people marking floors with lines, v's and x'es 😒".

Oh well, they were cops after all 🤷.

I actually watch or have conversations with people I don't agree with cuz sometimes their logic is solid and it gives another perspective on a certain subject.

I've been saying this for years, no one took me serously 😒.

Servo is a nice start, but it needs a lot of work.

And regarding the gov financed browser, we're way past that option IMO.

And generally speaking, the user experience on Nostr is much worse than Mastodon, full of scam and ads.

See, that's what it's gonna come down to in this day and age if there is no administration and filtering.

Just search the web for the software with "full" at the end. Someone must've pirated it, it's not something obscure.

That was an easy target, plus the population there is mostly Russian, so there was no objection or resistance from the local population. Putin knew this, that's why they went for it. On the other hand, there was going to be war if he tried the same with the rest of Ukraine. And I agree, after reasurrances that Ukraine won't try and be a part of NATO, Russia still finds an excuse to attack, yes, there is no way avoiding war. But, this option was never tried, so we'll never know...

I just didn't think that if I send the var it would work 🤣. But yeah, I'd try as well 🤣.
