It really doesn't though... If you get the angle wrong it can and does fail in horrific ways. That was one of the things my instructors thought us in EMT class (they even showed us a video).

In the mouth is safer than under the chin.

I had a similar response when I was asked last year during a checkup "how's your mental health".

My response was just to laugh for a bit and then to say "fine".
