If both options are the base (8gb) models then M2 will be the reasonable choice. If you’re considering 16GB it’s a different story.

A bit off topic here, but if OP doesn’t have Apple Care, is it better to get it fixed at a reputable third party repair store? I assume it’d be cheaper than Apple.

This might be a weird question, but how much more would you pay if you were to go for the Pro?

You’ve made a very good point here. Does the brighter screen affect battery life or is it enough given the increased battery size?

I’ve heard many say that their fans don’t even turn on unless they’re doing heavy tasks so noise is not much of a problem for me.

I do wonder, though, if the added portability is worth another 100 bucks.

So I’ve been thinking of buying a used M1 MacBook to bring around for work.

I mainly do research with 10+ tabs open, use Word and Excel, give presentations, and very rarely do some light Photoshop.

I’ve been seeing deals where the MacBook Pro with M1 and 16gb is about $100 cheaper than the Air version with the same spec, with one less GPU core, of course.

In this case, what would you guys suggest? Would love to hear your thoughts.

Thanks!
