Akelpad is a nice replacement. I use it on my work laptop. It's locked down so I can't install anything, but I can use portable apps!

Understood. Thanks!

FreeOffice is listed here, but their paid product, Softmaker Office is not. They still offer a non-subscription Desktop Office Suite here: https://www.softmaker.com/en/shop/softmaker-office

Disclaimer: I'm a user of the product. I have no affiliation with the company.

China, also: your dynasty is closing in on 300 years, huh? Good luck!

Cool. Your site is a great resource!

I just ordered a new SSD from them and received it in two days. Thanks for the recommendation.

Hi again. You can actually buy Softmaker Office versions outright (a non-subscription purchase), but they seem to have made the option harder to find these days: https://www.softmaker.com/en/shop/softmaker-office

Since we're in Buy European, I'm going to plug Softmaker Office. I bought it to replace MS Office at work and no one seems to have noticed. I used see formatting issues in word docs when using LibreOffice.

Cool! Thanks! I'll add these after work.

That's a strange error for Github! Glad it's working for you again.

Yeah, ours has been holding a close-out sale for more than a month now. They just put the store in about three years ago. Makes you wonder about the management.

I mentioned a list of Canadian retailers that I started in a thread about avoiding Amazon (https://old.lemmy.sdf.org/post/32698876) and otter@lemmy.ca suggested that I post it here. So here it is:

If you're not on Github and you want to make an addition, pm me with the store name and a link. :)

It's in the 8th period. Toronto Metropolitan University vs. Mount Royal.
