Or slinky catsuits. I bet they’re comfy, if perhaps stinky with the polyester/elastane combo. I remember reading that the TNG outfits were not at all comfortable, but that was 1980s tech. We have lululemon now.

Realtek, don’t they have issues with drivers in FreeBSD? Or am I horribly out of date.

In any case I’m excited, even if i barely tap into 1gbe capability most of the time.

This is something I’ve looked into in the past as well and with about 35 circuits to monitor, the Vue seems like a good one and done solution except it’s way too small, AND there’s mucking about with firmware which I’m none too excited about. I’m waiting for something better.

Tl;dr combo of strength, cardio, metcon, and accessory; https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=CLarKn-XkLo

“Proper” or “classic” or whatever you want to call it CrossFit is one workout per day, in a class setting. So you show up do some warmup, primer, workout, cool down and mobility, and done. The workout could be a classic CrossFit 5 rounds for time metcon, or it could just be 8 deadlifts building in weight, or it could be a 5k run. This style of training can have tremendous benefit to general population.

As CrossFit gained popularity, competitions emerged, including of course the CrossFit games. To prepare for these competitions, some semi-professional athletes began doing multiple CrossFit metcons in a day. However, it is patently obvious (except to the CrossFit diehards) that practicing your clean and jerk either only at submaximal load in a state of cardiovascular exhaustion is not going to materially improve the performance in comparison to a normal progressive overload cycle. Hence, multiple metcons in a day fell out of favour for programming combining a traditional, but low volume strength cycle (which could lean towards powerlifting or weightlifting) with dedicated skill progressions in the “gymnastic” movements, cardio, and traditional CrossFit style high intensity multimodal workouts, all in a single integrated program. The pros continue to do a ton of volume compared to what most people can handle in terms of time and volume.

I don’t actually compete, I just know that with my athletic background (I don’t have one) and my age (I’m not 19) I can’t put on reasonable strength or skill without dedicated time for it, but I also like doing metcons.

Musk takes the fall. We all knew that already.

Precooked onions depend on what you’re trying to achieve with them. Caramelized is another story too.

I have noticed that simply coating the balls of dough with a bit of oil before proofing changes the color of the finished dough; a little more char.

Biggest thing, unfortunately, is high heat. Before I got a pizza oven, I was experimenting with two stones. One on top of the pizza. They need to be really hot, not just in the oven for a while.

“Gifted child, if only they’d apply themselves”, turns into “Average adult, not always reliable and my god have you seen their <thing we ignore because we don’t have the bandwidth> but usually gets things done.”

Bodybuilding + Olympic is a great combo imho. You get explosive power and size, but even more importantly, bodybuilding provides the opportunity to work on the smaller supporting muscles, preventing injury.

I started in CrossFit but I’ve been doing dedicated weightlifting and strength training alongside metcons almost since I started (aka “competitive programming”. There is definitely not enough time in CrossFit dedicated to the lifts.

Sleep on side, no snore, but rotator cuff syndrome.

Sleep on back, snore, but no rotator cuff syndrome.

I hate being old.

I know this is solarDIY, but it seems like a good place for this anyways. Tl;dr is there a good way to integrate wind and solar without spending a bundle?

Sun only shines during the day, and as distances from the equator increase, day lengths get shorter, and cloudier, and angles get steeper. However, my location has steady prevailing winds. So much so, there’s a wind farm practically in the back garden.

Which has me thinking that instead of a ton of panels and a big battery bank (to make use of sunnier days), a little 1kw or so turbine would go a really long way - especially for steady and/or long-running loads like router/server/modem, refrigerator, heat pump…

I understand that wind turbines make some dreadful power and it tends to be AC. They’re also a bit of a pain to situate but that’s sorta secondary. Let’s say I spin up 10kw of solar, a pile of LiFe batteries, and an eg4 AIO with grid-tie. Is there a reasonable, and safe way to integrate wind? I know one guy who just hooked it straight to his batteries but they were lead acid, and they cooked in a storm. Gave him an excuse to get a big life system instead.
