I personally don't think the API pricing was ever meant to be reasonable or cover their true costs. Between the absurd pricing, the short timing, their test that blocked mobile web browsers, and refusal to even negotiate, it's clear to me that they just want to kill 3rd party apps and force everyone on mobile into the official mobile app where they can enforce their monetization schemes.

Maybe it's nothing, but Reddit seems particularly sensitive towards kbin.

Yes, with that autoloading thread bug on the main page, the web is kinda unusable for me. But Jerboa has worked fairly well for most of my needs

Looks like someone is trying to brownnose his way to an acquisition/merger.

I guess I'm glad I picked Lemmy.one -- the Switzerland of US-bases Lemmy instances :)

LOL it looks like you're right. Oh well. Maybe a poweruser could use some of these extensions :D

I use Brave. My most used extensions are:

  • Awesome Screenshot - takes partial and full browser window screenshots. It can also record screens. It looks like they've added "ChatGPT" into the name for some reason.
  • Bitwarden - password manager
  • VisBug - allows you to view webpage styles and tinker with the layout of live webpages.
  • Homey - a replacement for the default New Tab, which includes beautiful live wall papers and convenient access to bookmarks and other widgets.

Is this just the PWA (progressive web app)? If so, just FYI it's not a true native app -- more like a downloadable version of the normal webapp that you can pin and run like it is a app. I installed it as well (for my kbin account) and it works well enough as a good stop-gap.

I use a screen protector and case with a pop socket. My phone is 4 years old and still in good condition. The screen protector has some small scratches but not enough to be worth replacing.

Knowing that Beehaw and Lemmy.ml were overloaded, I chose the next biggest one in my country at the time, which was Lemmy.one.

Just saw the Beehaw has defederated from Lemmy.world and sh.itjust.works. so you seem spot on in your assessment.

I'm worried the Fediverse is going to be an SEO nightmare though.
