True true! I’m just old enough to remember the big separatist movement from Quebec in 1995 when they narrowly voted to stay a part of Canada.

The anti-American / pro-Canadian sentiment is huge right now. The switch to EB (Electronic Boutique) will bump sales for sure.

Just think it’s a little ironic that it’s a Quebec company that’s saving it.

You can’t run from your trauma. It follows you. Deal with your shit.

Half-serious… but I don’t understand how speeding is a problem in the GTA.

Every time I head out, I’m stuck in traffic because of road construction, condo construction, rush hour congestion or just bad drivers.

I’d love to have enough space to actually do the speed limit one day.

I don't see how any of this matters.

He is literally and figuratively above the law. He will face zero consequences.

Drive trucks to the capital, honk horns, soak in hot tubs and wave American flags to protest their lack of "freedoms"

New Orleans. Brothers Food Mart, 2012. A convenience store that was serving the best fried chicken. So unassuming. So delicious.

There was also another hole-in-the-wall bar that had the best gumbo that we ate after trying Oysters Rockefeller somewhere else.

We’re from Toronto and that trip was years ago but we still speak fondly of the food and the people of New Orleans to this day.

This is it. When they forced us back into the office, it was less about afternoon naps and avoiding traffic. It was more about being able to see my dr that closes at 4pm or taking my elderly parents to their appointments. Cooking dinners to avoid takeout and getting ‘me’ time between zoom calls. They took that away from us. Now it’s 9-5 and not a minute more.

When I finally got a place of my own in my 30s, I kept the shelves stocked with the brightest, sweetest, crunchiest kids cereals. Lucky Charms, Trix, Count Chocula, Golden Grahams. All we were allowed to eat as kids was Corn Flakes and Bran Flakes 🤢

You can be unpopular and still be democratically elected. That's so awful. Gotta fix voter apathy.

Water Heater (infosec.pub)
submitted 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) by DistressedDad@lemmy.ca to c/adulting@lemmy.world

How many gallons / litres is your home water heater?

We live in a suburban 4 bedroom detached home. I find that after my wife and kid shower, I’m stuck showering in cold water.

Are they using too much water or is my water heater just not big enough?

Edit: not my photo. We currently have a 50gal tank.

I'm hearing rumblings of mass layoffs in my industry and was hoping to soften the blow by reaching out for full-time work before things come crumbling down.

I have nearly 20yrs of experience working in a studio and as an in-house designer. With the last 8yrs being at my current employer.

While a generalist, I excel in the areas of logo / branding design, print design, email / e-blast design and presentation design. I do a little bit of Wordpress / HTML / CSS work on the side as well.

I'm a Xennial with strong work ethic and communication skills.

Reach out if you think I can help you. Thank you!

The Carbon Tax was a major part of Trudeau's downfall near the end of his term. Why did he have such a hard-on for the Carbon Tax? Why didn't he cancel it when he had a chance and maybe salvage his political career? Why did Carney scrap it on his first day?

EDIT thanks for all the responses. It now makes so much sense. Trudeau was on his way out. He knew it. He took all the heat so that the new leader could take credit and ushering in a “We’re not Trudeau” party leadership, potentially saving the party during the next election and sticking it to Poillivere

They haven't called an election yet I got this today. Looks a little sus.
