It's entirely satirical.

I doubt speed is an adequate consideration here. Especially considering lack of dedicated protection like helmets and other coverings. Access, usability, price (assuming rental), and dedicated protected lanes for travel are much more important, but harder to manage.

Well-written and surprisingly thoughtful commentary given the heat so far

The only way to continue to deny the incorrect view of solarpunk is to contribute to the appropriate view of it! If you believe in the idea, don't give up on it

Re: professional help, have you tried looking at the options on a site like https://diypestcontrol.com/ ? They also have a live chat where you can speak to people who will provide advice and guidance for use of their product / pest control in general. I've spoken with them before and had a good experience with their help.

As for products, they have some hardcore stuff that is intended to go inside your walls, in the crawlspace, etc. a wide variety of use cases.

An organism with plentiful nutrients and no natural predators in an environment will proliferate as an invasive species. This is, in fact, worth considering as a Jurassic Park scenario.

These folks are not saying "we shouldn't do this because of the risks." They're saying "I hope those who would take this action attempt to understand and control those risks before an adverse affect like unnatural proliferation were to occur."

You can both be right.

Does your manager give you deadlines, even if just in theory? I have an adjacent issue where I'll do great work for as long as it takes me to do it. But if I have a deadline, I know I can't delay to meet that goal. Typically the sooner the better

This is one single curated list found at the top of a search, the point is that there are plenty of options if you look. Plus demand drives availability. Low demand will certainly entail low availability. Your criteria of needing to be below $200, not rely exclusively on Verizon, and have mass market availability have been pulled out of thin air. You gotta take what you can get to some degree.

Essentially every option in this article is well below $200 for use in the US

There are plenty of flip phones and "dumb" phones available that work on current towers. A simple search provides many examples right off the bat.

I appreciate your thoughts here, and in no way is this calling out the leadership or even the userbase. I accept that I have my own role to play in making a difference, and that's an effort I've yet to pursue. Be the change you want to see in the world.

Though re: detraction from my experience, I'm more concerned with the ability to draw others toward the collective cause of solarpunk. Which, when a large amount of discourse is one of the same standard flavors of political derision with a new label, it's likely the community may continue to grow in that direction.

I see the need, I'll try my own best to make an impact. Thank you for your answers :)

The vast majority of posts in this instance's communities are focused on pointing out failures and perpetuating doomerism. Where's the solarpunk in slrpnk?

I ask this genuinely, not just complaining. I joined this community looking for motivations to lead a more solarpunk lifestyle, myself. Instead it feels closer to most other communities that just point out all the shit in the world, but with a bit more focus on renewable energy complaints vs. other options. It just makes me wonder what the point is.

Am I wrong here?
