Biden was already supposed to be a compromise for moderate republicans when Obama in 08 ran and the porks and good ‘ol boys alike were freaking out that they might actually see the country’s fascist trajectory change.
This country is fucked, even Canada and Britain are AES paradises compared to even Amerika on its best day.
The way I see it, the GOP and the Tories are the "default" and whenever a crisis is brewing they will intentionally lose and let the "left" party that's in practice, totally dead and irrelevant since the 80s soak up the blame and make the default party look good.
