Oh yeah, that’s another big one. There’s just way too much baggage to use orc/goblin/troll/etc to refer to chuds.

Can't wait to hear all the concern trolling about this pretty normal philosophy. No one made the natural resources so they all belong to the citizens of the community equally. It's how botswana was able to start a solid recovery from colonialism.

I swear, no one can properly mock fascists in any way that insults them.

The closest I can think of are orcs from Tolkein, and even then if I worry that if we starting calling white people and fascists "orcs", they'd take it as a compliment too or I'll just sound too much like a NAFO lib.

And best of all, China makes sure to build enough stuff so everyone can enjoy life. One thing boomers in the US do that I don't necessarily fault them for is that they love life and keep participating in society, where it irks me is their nimbyism so they refuse to let more stuff be built so everyone, young and old, can participate in society. Of course, when there's scarcity, people with deeper pockets (like older people who's homes have seen some of the fastest value appreciation in world history) will always win.

Sure, sometimes I can envy that boomers got "lucky", but seeing those videos of people young and old coexisting helps establish its largely a non-antagonistic contradiction.

"No one wants to give up their creature comforts, and politicians get it. That’s why they’re ditching ambitious green targets. It’s electoral suicide."

It's a bit offensive to associate Asia, such a wonderful continent with those barbaric savages in its western peninsula.

That’s kind of what I think. Plus it’s the whole point of democrats.

Republicans do all the real governing and whenever their stunning, absolute confidence from the public even withers by the slightest amount, the democrats are brought in to soak up the blame and then heroically defeated by the GOP. Rinse and repeat.

[–] DragonBallZinn@hexbear.net 11 points 11 months ago

The GOP is the “natural governing party” of the US, and dems are married to the idea of being perpetual underdogs.

Even from a liberal electoralist standpoint, this is bizarre. The Conservatives under Pierre Pollievre is set to win in Canada, but you know damn well that they aren’t going to act like the Liberal Party is an all powerful force, even though they have a parliamentary system and a strong enough opposition can block some stuff.

Liberal optimism really is adorable. Like a child saying he wants to be a dinosaur when he grows up.

300 * 0 = 0. I sympathize for everyday Ukrainians and Russians alike. Both being dragged into a war no one asked for.

That being said, seeing how popular nazism and war is in Europe. I wouldn't be surprised if they are the ringleaders of it all. Western culture seems to view war as a big sporting event and not a horrible tragedy that sometimes has to happen in self-defense at its best, or should be avoided at all costs most of the time.
