Luckily I haven't really had people post rule-breaking content in my communities. Nobody posting bitcoin spam, being nasty towards other users, or breaking a rule that you cannot just assume exists (I'd assume "do not be mean, do not spam/post on-topic things" to be universal) and would have to actually read the sidebar for (like no posts about humans in bunny suits in !bunnies@lemmy.world). I was wondering if this is most mods' experience on Lemmy.

Maybe one of these days I'll post a rabbit picture I took instead of a rabbit video I found online and watched… today is not that day.

Okay, in certain cases this has an obvious answer. Former dog lover, one bit me, now I would rather they be happy and healthy far away from me. Direct bad experiences can ruin things for you.

But I'm wondering. I've never been hurt by a spider but I'm still scared of them. Meanwhile, other people absolutely love this type of critter. I like !snakes@lemmy.world. Why do I see them as cute; why am I not afraid? Danger does not really explain it, because both animals have species that can hurt people and that are harmless. There are probably folks who love mosquitoes and don't like cats. Aside from "this animal has personally hurt me or someone I know before," I wonder what determines what causes some animals to fall in some people's "good" bucket and others in their "bad." Why some people like what others do not and vice versa. (Yes, personal preference, but I'm curious as to the reason behind these preferences.)

I can’t come up with a title

I have this trouble too sometimes. I figure just approach it like you would alt text. "a picture of a bunny I took today," "bunny in the evening," "bunny looks left," might be boring but it's accurate, and people are here for the cute animal pictures, not for my clever titling. Thanks for making cool stuff on Lemmy!

I am confused on if you would rather stay on .world or if you would like to move, or if you are ambivalent. (I personally favor moving and getting you installed as mod on the sdf community, but I'm also not the only user of the fox community, hence the thread!)

@Elevator7009@lemmy.zip, @Elevator7009sAlt@ani.social, hi! This is a comment mention.

There's !foxes@lemmy.world and !foxnews@lemmy.sdf.org. The lemmy.world version has a more recently active mod, @mjokfox@pawb.social / @mjokfox@lemmy.world, while the lemmy.sdf.org one @Greyscale@lemmy.sdf.org hasn't been seen in 2 years. There appears to be a lot more recent activity on !foxes@lemmy.world especially thanks to @ickplant@lemmy.world and overall a bit more activity there. However, lemmy.world is the biggest instance and consolidating towards smaller but still active instances tends to be a better move for keeping the Fediverse decentralized and diverse instead of centralized all on one huge instance.

Either way, it would probably help to consolidate so we can have one active fox community instead of people trying to independently contribute to two communities that seem to have no difference in content. Was wondering what people think about which community to consolidate to, if at all, or if there is some difference I haven't yet detected and they should just coexist.

Also, I followed this guide in the sidebar and am wondering why it says to page relevant users in a top-level comment. Do user mentions just not work in a post so it has to be a comment?

EDIT: You know what, I can test that myself since I have alts. @Elevator7009@lemmy.zip, @Elevator7009sAlt@ani.social, hi! An hour after the self-ping, both in post and in comment, neither account received a notification

Posted by a YouTube channel called "LookAtThoseRabbits," and this is their only video in 15 years. I respect the effort to get bunnies out to the public. Very cute. They hop in video!

I entered "little peep" in the search bar hoping for pictures of the sugary snack that often comes in the shape of chicks or, more relevantly for this community, bunnies. Instead of getting those I got lots of pictures of a human rapper who went by "Lil Peep". And a few that combined a plushie of the sugary snack in rabbit form with the rapper. Figured I'd post the plushies. Here's another:

bonus points if you can guess which server I typed this in

also, new post made, because the first version of this was made on Lemmy Scheduler and the .gif got all corrupted to show just nonsense black and white dots

I can't believe it's not Photoshop! The placement of the owl behind the trunk is just too perfect.

My immediate thoughts on the coloring are "tiger". Black "stripes" and orange for your traditional tiger, but there is also white for white tigers.

It's really difficult to not just title every post I make here "aww, a bunny!"

and meanwhile, bunnies seem to be food for snakes and falcons sometimes… liking both animals in a predator-prey relationship is an experience

Time to plug !snakes@lemmy.world (I do not mod it) for those of us who feel bad for that snake :(

Asked the mod of the bun alert system, conclusion is that we're two different places and should not consolidate. Ah well, but hey, less mess on my end.
