When an animal is old and dying, you're expected to euthanize it. When a human is old and dying, you're expected to keep them alive as long as possible

If Back to the Future we're remade today, he'd be going back in time to 1995.

I'd like to see a remake of Back to the Future just so we can have a scene where Doc Brown refuses to believe Donald Trump will be president.

THAT'S FASCISM

[–] Freshparsnip@lemm.ee 7 points 8 hours ago

I might be unhinged. I have a desire to call Trump and irrationally yell at him for every problem I have, regardless if it's his fault

Every post about Iron heart on Facebook, people are bitching and moaning that Marvel had the nerve to make a show they don't personally approve of.

What is this entitlement people have about movies and TV where it's not enough for them to just not watch the thing they're not interested in, they have to make sure to loudly proclaim their disapproval of it. I have no interest in The Bear. Know what I do? I just don't watch it and it has virtually no impact on my life.

Some people refuse to just not watch what they aren't interested in, they demand that everyone know how displeased they are with something that hasn't even been released yet. And they insist that EVERYONE, or at least everyone who matters, feels the exact same way they do. I don't know if they're so self-centered they legitimately don't understand that other people have different tastes or if this is just a big cope because they can't handle that people are watching and enjoying things they aren't. It's not enough to just not watch it, they have to try and convince themselves and others that nobody will like the thing they don't approve of. If they really believed nobody was going to watch it, then why does its existence bother them so much? If what they're saying is true, then nobody will watch and the show won't have any impact. They're throwing a tantrum because they can't handle the possibility that the show will have an impact on other people.

Such passionate hatred for something that isn't even out yet. They don't know if it's any good or not and already they can't handle the idea that anybody will watch it. And they wonder why people think their hatred might be racially motivated.

TRUMP SHOULD BE ARRESTED

[–] Freshparsnip@lemm.ee 7 points 1 day ago

That's because the sort of people who vote against their own interests don't grasp the idea of consequences. I've heard that science says we don't fully understand consequences until a certain age. I'm becoming more and more convinced that some people just never develop a sense of consequences. These people really need to be studied.

JUST A REMINDER THAT THERE ARE PEOPLE IN AN EL SALVADOR TORTURE PRISON FOR HAVING TATTOOS!

Stop assuming just because you didn't want something that nobody else does. I never asked for sports to be shown on tv, any sport ever, but I don't go around complaining that sports are broadcast or claiming nobody asked for them, I understand that millions of people who aren't me are enjoying them.

People keep whining about the upcoming Harry Potter series and saying nobody asked for it. Actually, lots of fans did ask for it and have been asking for it for years because a series will be able to more faithfully adapt the books than the movies did. Stop assuming because you didn't ask for something that nobody else wants it.

And if you choose to watch the thing you complain about, you ARE asking for it. The minute you click play on streaming or pay for your theatre ticket, you're asking to see the thing so shut up with your claim that you didn't ask for it. If its existence bothers you so much, don't fucking watch it.

And even if nobody asked for it, so what? Did anybody ask for the first Star Wars movie before it came out?

Edit: people are saying this about the upcoming Hunger Games movie. Not many people. The majority of comments on posts about this movie are people excited and looking forward to it. Which makes the clueless "nobody asked for this" comments even funnier because these people can't be bothered to read the room before assuming everybody feels the way they do. Loads of fans in fact asked for a book about Haymitch's game.

I might be high

Is it me? Is it something about the way I talk? Or is it them? Can these certain people not conceive of the idea of talking about something without being worried about it? I'm just making conversation.

I've seen a lot of people on this site make comments that terrorism is now legal in the Untied States or asking if it's now legal for them to storm the capitol and other such nonsense.

No, pardoning someone does not change the law. A pardon just means that individual will not be punished for that specific crime. It doesn't mean that individual is allowed to commit further crimes or even the same one again. It doesn't mean the crime is no longer illegal. It doesn't mean future offenders are guaranteed a pardon. All it means is that individual is forgiven for those specific actions by law.

If you forgive someone for lying to you, that doesn't mean that for the rest of your life they and everyone else has permission to lie to you.
