Sleepy girl so cute! And that’s great news to hear. I’m so glad you’re her human.

My bathroom was right at the top of a long staircase. When I'd be putting makeup on in the morning, Gilligan would bring me one of the small sponge balls from the living room and drop it just inside the door. I'd flick it down the stairs and he'd leap down 2-3 stairs at a time, find the ball and bring it back for the next round. He'd do it over and over again, every day. Miss that boy. Great post!

Yes! Got a lot of mislabeled songs I ended up really liking and expanded my tastes quite a bit. Fun times

Crikey. I’m from NY and this was the worst pizza abomination I’d seen until now. And yes it’s disgusting. St Louis style pizza

Camera-shy hoodie

We need something like this for daytime.

Also, read up on what they are ultimately going for: Eliminating the First Amendment

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Just double checked and the chairman is indeed Jim “Gym” Jordan Sick fuck

Jordan was an assistant coach with Ohio State University's wrestling program from 1987 to 1995.

Richard Strauss was the wrestling team physician during Jordan's tenure. Strauss died by suicide in 2005. In April 2018, Ohio State University began an independent investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct by Strauss. Of the 177, 153 were student-athletes, of which a plurality (48) were members of the men's wrestling team.: 43

Several involved persons have stated that Jordan surely knew of Strauss's criminal misconduct but did not report it. Other wrestlers and Head Coach Russ Hellickson said he may not have known about the abuse. A spokesperson for Jordan denied the allegation, saying that "chairman Jordan never saw or heard of any abuse, and if he had, he would have dealt with it". No wrestlers have accused Jordan himself of sexual misconduct, but four former wrestlers named him as a defendant in a lawsuit against the university.Jordan has denied any wrongdoing and has described his accusers as "pawns in a political plot".

(Sorry the formatting is messed up. On my phone and just woke up lol)

Somewhere I saw a documentary where the historian was walking through the place as she explained its history and construction. With context removed, it sounded like and appeared she was in a cathedral. Roman civil engineering never ceases to impress and amaze me.
When I was a kid, my uneducated, Italian immigrant uncles started 2 separate construction companies doing what they knew: one specialized in masonry and the other in concrete construction work. Both had municipal contracts and were very prosperous. They died before I was old enough to learn their methods, ask questions and listen to their stories. Seeing places like this makes me wonder how much of it was handed down over the centuries and I am sad that it has been forgotten in my lifetime. Thanks for the share!

Ooh, I’m so jelly of working in a barn and near horses! Ouch re: your ankle. Bummer about aqua therapy. It was very hard to find for me too. But it sounds like you’re all set for the task, so here’s wishing you good luck! Do post updates for us concrete jungle types.

Welcome to the 8th annual Shkreli Awards, the Lown Institute’s top ten list of the worst examples of profiteering and dysfunction in healthcare, named for the infamous “pharma bro” Martin Shkreli.

Paywalled, as someone pointed out. Apologies. There is a summary video here on YT

This year, in the ongoing series “Health Care’s Colossus,” STAT documented how UnitedHealth wielded its unrivaled physician empire to boost its profits and expand its influence. The year before, in the “Denied by AI” series, STAT exposed how UnitedHealth used an unregulated algorithm to override clinicians’ judgments and deny health care, highlighting the dangers of AI use in medicine.

They show how UnitedHealth has turned health care into an assembly line that treats millions of patients as products to be monetized. And they chronicle how the $5 trillion American health care system came to be so broken.

These are the folks who discovered their AI algorithm and their reporting brought their fuckery to our collective attention
