Not true. Most studies nowadays include male & female participants - and more research focuses on exclusively female than exclusively male issues

The real bias is against normal human beings. Nursing/medical students and medical professionals are vastly overrepresented amongst study participants - and young people. These groups of people are much healthier than the average human being. Steps have been taken to address this too, but it is slow going.

The main thing with db0 as opposed to other instances is that it:

a) also caters to another crowd (FOSS enthusiasts)

b) doesn't suffer (at least from whay I've seen) from censorship problems. Db0, the owner, isn't auth far left (tankie) but anarchist and seems pretty reasonable.

c) Actually has a sign-up process (which means fewer people choose it)

d) Has a lot of big comms in software due to early arrival and not doing stupid things.

I myself have an acc there, mostly due to foss interest.

As everyone else has said, mostly convenience. Easier parking, quicker leaving, generally safer. If I'm early to work I'll "drive-through" an empty spot to park with the nose outwards. The rearview mirrors make it very easy to keep track of where your car is going.

Occasionally I've also managed to do some stupidly tight parking jobs where I literally had to climb out of the trunk :)

Yeah idk. It's one of those things I fix into proper sentence structuring when I feel like writing more formally. Otherwise there may just be random parenthesis (like this with interesting thoughts) cluttered in occasionally - sorta lazy.

As a European atheist - it is of interest. The report might shed light on things I've seen happen in my own country. Progressive ideals being rolled back in the face of religious pressure. People being silenced when they criticize religion. Religious extrajudicial executions.

Christianity is wrong. Islam is wrong. Judaism is wrong. I know this.

I am not French, but I feel a huge gratitude that they are championing my rights to be free from religion. It is freedom from religion that allows me to post this comment without fear.

According to many religions, my very thoughts are blasphemous. Religious texts either outright state that I should be killed, or deem me subhuman.

Organized religions are designed to infiltrate, spread, control and finally dominate. They've been around much longer than modern secular democracies. They mustn't be underestimated.

In the Swedish Riksdag (Parliament) today, all parties, with the exception of the Social Democrats who want to see a broader expansion, voted in favor of expanding the prohibition on sex purchases.

The amendment, which comes into force on July 1, 2025, means that the sex purchase prohibition will now not only cover physical sexual services, but also makes it a criminal offense to provide a person compensation for performing sexual acts remotely – for instance, video material purchased per order or live via platforms such as OnlyFans. The expansion also applies to the Swedish legal definition of pimping – i.e., those who promote or unduly profit from a person having temporary sexual relations in exchange for compensation.

The Swedish Riksdag has previously also supported a motion to exempt the purchase of sexual services (now sexual acts) from the principle of dual criminality. This has not yet resulted in any concrete legislative proposals, but could potentially lead to these acts becoming punishable globally for Swedish citizens and those domiciled in Sweden in the future.

The text above was written by me, originally in Swedish. There is also an article in swedish at TV4's website.

Agreed - all Ghibli movies are beautiful in their own right, but taking that cinematic mastery and applying it in what is essentially a film about the tragedies of war?

Shivers.

For the popular vote the top 10 were as follows (bottom to top):

  • 97 pts. - Italy, Lucio Corsi – Volevo Essere Un Duro

  • 108 pts. - Finland, Erika Vikman – ICH KOMME

  • 126 pts. - Greece, Klavdia – Asteromáta

  • 139 pts. - Poland, Justyna Steczkowska – GAJA

  • 158 pts. - Ukraine, Ziferblat – Bird of Pray

  • 178 pts. - Austria, JJ – Wasted Love

  • 195 pts. - Sweden, KAJ – Bara Bada Bastu

  • 258 pts. - Estonia, Tommy Cash – Espresso Macchiato

  • 297 pts. - Israel, Yuval Raphael – New Day Will Rise

Personally I'm partial to KAJ for no particular reason (ehem nationality bias ;) and we love our Swedish Finns) but it was fun to see a whole lot of non-english songs making both the finals and top rankings!

Did you guys have any particular favourites and if so why?

At least in my country, this is already the norm. If it can't be used as food for humans in one way or another it can be used in countless otber contexts such as animal feed or fuel via biogas or biodiesel. Same applies to food waste from shops, restaurants and households.

Nothing goes to waste.

Yes, the current government in Sweden has actively been working on combating organized crime (which most of these murders are related to), but it takes time for new policies to come into effect.

Of course not, and even many objects should, at least in my opinion, be treated with some respect. I mostly agree with what you've written here.

To act as though we are above them

In my opinion, it is precisely because we are above them that we (or at least many of us) abhor unnecessary suffering and waste. The wolf however does not care when it slaughters a whole herd of sheep to eat just their livers and leave the rest to rot, neither does it hesitate to kill the zookeeper that has fed it for a decade when they slip up for just a moment.
