In addition to 'just write anything and stick with it', getting someone who knows what they're doing to look at your code and criticize it can be useful.

It was open a few weeks ago (even after they missed their goal), now it's closed and the link is missing from their website. Can't find any coverage about this. Anyone know anything?

How do I take an accurate picture of the street at night with my phone? (piefed.social)

I'm trying to take a picture that looks the same as what I see. The street lights are the main source of light and they're orange. There are also some other sources of light that are other colors. On auto mode my phone's picture looks yellow without any hint of red or orange. On 'pro' mode with auto wb it looks like a warm white. In both cases other lights are overly cold. I can get the orange closest by cranking up the white balance to 8k, but then the other lights are overly warm. Why is this the case? How can I overcome it? Why doesn't the phone just capture the light as is? I tried looking up white balance online but it seems to be all about making non-white lights look white, which is the opposite of what I want from a picture.

Edit: nvm 6500k seems to be good for both. So I guess the question is, why is auto white balance so bad?

There should be a 'theater mode' video player that doesn't let you pause, rewind, turn down the volume etc or close it until the end of the thing you're watching save for a pre-programmed break (piefed.social)
