In the app you can mute posts from instances, to also get rid of the users you need to use the webpage as someone else mentioned.

To mute the instance in the boost app go on the profile icon, lower right, settings (upper right), "Filters & blocks", there you should see the option "mute instances", type in the instance handle and posts from that instance shouldn't show up anymore.

(pretty much none of the Jews living outside Western Europe were victimized).

Holy fuck I almost spat out my drink reading that, that is so verifiably untrue it is painful.

Of the around 6 million Jews murdered in the Holocaust, more than 80% were from outside of western Europe.

Approximately 3 million from Poland, 1 million from the Soviet Union, 450.000 Hungarian, 300.000 Romanian, 250.000 from the baltics, 200.000 Czechoslovakian, 100.000 from the eastern Balkans and Greece.

The biggest diaspora of Jews used to be in eastern Europe, in the 30s around 60% (around 9.5 million) of Jewish people in the world were living in Europe, around 85% of those in eastern Europe. So most of the Jewish people in that time were directly impacted by the Holocaust, and almost all Jews were affected in one way or another.

Members of an ethnicity were victimized by the Genocide, not the The ethnicity as whole.

...I don't think you understand the word genocide...

Basic troubleshooting and reasoning.

That drives me nuts sometimes. Like even professionals sometimes seem unable to do basic troubleshooting. I work in live music, I am not a tech/engineer but have done a lot of tech work on and around stages.

Simple stuff like - one speaker is not giving a signal, two techs are unable to identify the fault for over 20 min. I observe for a bit, they check the console, they check the speaker, they check the power supply.

And I, half joking, ask - have you switched sides already? Both look at me like they don't understand my question, I walk over to the signal line for the PA, unplug them both, plug the left side into the right signal and vice versa on the other side - the problem moves from one speaker to the other, so it has to be a faulty cable. I was so baffled by that.

WHY IS THAT NOT THE FIRST THING YOU DO????? It takes seconds!

Or a wireless in-ear system has weird noises in the signal, I suggest to switch the frequency, the old tech grunts at me that he has already done that, I check and he moved the frequency like 10mhz. I suggest to move to a totally different frequency range and he gets rude so I go somewhere else. Half an hour later it turns out I was right. Why do you fuck around with firmware and shit before you do something simpler and quicker?

Yeah, and we didn’t start the fire.

It's Springsteen, not Billy Joel.

I don’t know what depths we’re talking about here,

From the article:

The idea is relatively simple: hollow concrete spheres are installed at a depth of several hundred metres.

Good start, but it's missing the open misogyny of a divorced boomer.

Something like "That bitch caught me peeing in the sink again."

Bonus points if you can make yourself sound divorced and incel at the same time.

No, he was a good person.

I've met plenty of people where this would be an appropriate response. Not because they're boring but because they're trashy humans, I am not obligated to listen to someone's hateful shit, I can just get up and leave.

Hazel says hi (infosec.pub)

European red squirrel, northern Germany.

We live right next to a park, where a tree grows partially over our balcony, so the little one can safely come and go. Over the past weeks she's gotten more curious and has been exploring every corner of the balcony, she's also gotten more comfortable with our presence.

A few days ago we were having tea outside and she joined us briefly, so we put out some hazelnuts and she returned immediately from her lookout on the tree.

First she checked from a safe distance.

She then brought the nuts into several hiding spots around and returned again, at this point she really started to muster us. She then made a big jump right on to our table, ran across it until she sat 30cm in front of my girlfriend and stared right into the camera, that's where we took the title picture.

The photo is slightly out of focus because she ran up to us so boldly, we couldn't turn the zoom down quickly enough.

After that photo we put the camera down, to enjoy the moment more, she ran around us a little bit and then retreated back to her tree.

It seems like we made a friend that day, she comes by periodically, we bought more nuts and although she is careful around us, she accepts our presence. We can move slowly and also talk normally, just fast movements makes her a little skittish.

So greetings from Hazel to all of you, we wish you and your squirrel friends a merry autumn!
