NATO should say they promise not to once Russia hands over its nuclear weapons. You know, like Ukraine did. Use the exact same paperwork that Ukraine signed in 1994 (NPT), with the word Ukraine taped over so it’s super obvious.

Sony has sold approximately 150 million PS4/5. Assuming they’re ALL being played, and that Microsoft sold roughly the same number, that means that if roughly one in every five iPhone owners play games, there are equal numbers.

But A lot of it, I’m sure, comes down to what everybody considers gamers/games. Balatro? Unquestionably a game, does it count for your statistics? I don’t know. From my phone on a brief search, the total market was somewhere around 180 billion last year, and $90 billion of that was mobile, and Sony made $17.5 billion in services, though I’m not sure if that includes the actual consoles.

Not when large swaths of people are being told to use it everyday. Upper management has bought in on it.

/jaw drops What the… Indeed! So both have a high level of isoamyl acetate. Does that mean that jargonelle pears smell/taste like bananas?!

Thanks! TIL!

Fun fact: artificial banana flavor is based off of the Gros Michel banana, which was mostly wiped out due to disease. We eat Cavendish bananas these days, although there’s a new disease spreading because ( just like last time) it’s a monoculture

So it’s not that it’s artificial tasting, it’s that you’ve never had the real thing and are used to the bananas you’ve grown up eating. Which is normal! Just a weird bit of trivia.

Interesting concept, here’s hoping. They could definitely take a bite out of the progressive market, especially for people who buy a pair of dedicated reading glasses. Comes down to how much lenses cost, how much/many options the frames come with… I suspect this will be a super niche thing, but on board for it

I also wouldn’t mind them being on a dimmer. If you’re riding the brakes, barely touching it… One out of 10. If you’re normally slowing, 5. If you just jammed on the brakes out of nowhere, then 10. alternate the LEDs in the assembly with the baseline and what’s currently occurring. That way if you’ve never that particular car’s brake lights before, you still have some idea how to judge it

A whole lot of music communities, finding bands that tour with bands I like, review sites and forums for specific genres I like (feckingbahamas, angrymetalguy, progressive ears), the “if you like” thing at the bottom of Bandcamp pages, and the YouTube/spotify algorithm.

I have a friend who put the money into Screen Protector & AppleCare instead of a case

What’s the quote? “It’s so vicious because the stakes are so small”. Yeah, block/ignore and carry on. These types existed before, and it may be that it’s worse here because we all left Reddit for ideological reasons. But yeah, ignore and find the other conversations.

Was lucky enough to come across this when it first released and the guy posted in the /R*s. I absolutely adore the album. I have a couple issues with it…the lyrics can be a bit repetitive and there’s a weak track somewhere in there that kills some of the momentum.

But it’s fantastic. The music is varied, the songwriting tight, the musicians are great (I seem to recall one of the members of The Mars Volta played on it) and that vocalist, daaaaaaaaamn. I believe he called it post-hardcore but sure, progrock fits. I’d never heard of “hardcore” except in an album title, but now I own several releases, due to this album.

Came across this on Mastodon: https://owlsintowels.org/ Apologies if dupe but I don’t remember it.

From https://glammr.us/@overholt/114575283647930047

“Wildlife rehabilitators often wrap owls in fabric so they can be weighed, treated, and fed. If not, the owls get in a flap.

The result? Loads of pictures of #owlsintowels“

Would it be possible to make an option to flip colors somewhat as indentations occur? I think the first three colors are red/green or green/red, but can’t tell.

Howdy. Love the app, but something’s confused me for a while. I’m on two iOS devices, and when I read on one, it doesn’t seem to be read on the other - I wind up seeing the device on both.

I have “mark read on scroll” on, as well as “auto hide read posts”, but it still keeps happening. Is this a Voyager issue? A Lemmy.world issue? Many thanks!

This hits the sweet spot for me. Super complex guitar work, interesting patterns, some electronica buried in the mix. Not quite animals as leaders, but definitely similar and you can see them from here.

Link is to the video, here’s the new album: https://youtu.be/ByaaQG0g1ZQ

An underwater camera set up 55 years ago to try and photograph the Loch Ness Monster has been found by accident by a robot submarine.

The ocean-going yellow sub - called Boaty McBoatface - was being put through trials when its propeller snagged the mooring for the 1970s camera system.

It is believed it was lowered 180m (591ft) below the loch's surface by the Loch Ness Investigation Bureau, a group set up in the 1960s to uncover the existence of Nessie in the waters.

No footage of Nessie has been found on the camera, but one of the submarine's engineers was able to develop a few images of the loch's murky waters.

Seen at a national park.

It bulks it up, it stretches it out, it lowers the taste some.

Technically not the most representative track of the genre, but exceedingly listenable and you get some idea of what the rough vocals that are normally in blackgaze sound like. If you like the contrast, then blackgaze is definitely for you. If you prefer clean vocals, there are bands such as Astronoid That only have clean vocals.

Overall, blackgaze is the intersection between black metal which has heavy/fast drums and screamed vocals, With Shoegaze, which is a warm tone, lots of effects, my bloody valentine being the most recognizable example.

No, I don’t know what the story behind that is.

Got this photo from my phone from the street. He was loud, hooted every 20-30 seconds. Really cool!

Went to IKEA the other day and came across these stuffed animals/hand puppets based off the Snowy Owl. Very soft and pretty darn cute
