App store being the only option where you can install apps from is a major issue.

I live in an autocratic country and have to suffer from sanctions due to our officials' abhorrent decisions.

Due to that, for example, none of the banking apps can be installed on iPhones. So, NFC is useless. Neither does it have anti-DPI apps to overcome censorship, afaik.

AI happened. It requires an immense amount of RAM and storage for data centers, and manufacturers don't have enough production capacity to keep up.

Prices were going down because the consumer market didn't have as much of a demand for both after covid.

Same shit happens on YouTube when commenting, so annoying

I believe I've seen them announce that already, so, yeah

Not really an option considering it's even more locked down.

Hope Valve comes up with something eventually, after all they've been getting into x86 emulation for mobile ARM chips lately. Granted, it was for VR, but still.

I'd wait for Valve Frame to come out.

It's supposed to be around the price of Index, hopefully less expensive.

Primarily because of Meta's track record of breaking their headsets with software updates, it's also going to be significantly lighter at the front, which is important. And will have eye tracking with foveated streaming.

For the last month, every time I tried to jump into VR I had a bug that prevented me from using the headset completely, so I'd just choose to play on PC instead.

I trust Valve to make a much more hastle-free experience than Meta at this point. And be probably switching myself as long as the price in my region allows for it.

Terraria at it's core is about boss progression.

Here are the mandatory ones in order of completion:

  1. Wall of flesh (<= after beating it is when the fun part starts, early game is kinda sluggish)
  2. 3 Mechanical bosses
  3. Plantera
  4. Golem
  5. Lunatic Cultist
  6. Moon Lord

The rest is prep work for each one.

  • Collecting NPCs and making housing for them
  • Collecting weapons, armour, accessories
  • Building arenas for bosses
  • Building farming locations
  • Defeating optional bosses for more powerful loot
  • Grinding defeated bosses for specific drops

What I usually do is:

  1. Build starter house
  2. Go mining
  3. Go exploring
  4. Beat corruption/crimson boss
  5. Make housing for NPCs
  6. Make a hellevator
  7. Make wall of flesh arena, beat it with dynamite
  8. Lots and lots of gear grinding
  9. More prep work for mechanical bosses

The last 2 repeat for each boss that's on the list and often include beating other bosses or events for their loot.

They also already have installation from external sources turned on by default.

Why the hell are we babying people who turn it off? They read the warning, they know the risks.

You don't need a credit card for a dev account. You do, however, need to have a "business" attached. Luckily, that business they're asking for doesn't need to be verified, so it can be just a random string of letters.

Still bs that you have to go through all of that just to install apps you want.

I don't trust Microsoft to make apps on their OS work as well as on x86. Their support so far with X elite/pro chips was very telling.

Credit where credit is due, Apple worked hard with other developers to make the transition to ARM possible. Microsoft doesn't seem to be bothered to do that much.

BSOD after CPU swap (lemmy.world)
submitted 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) by Mistic@lemmy.world to c/pcmasterrace@lemmy.world

I've swapped a CPU going from 5600g to 5900x, unfortunately the system seems to bluescreen from time to time (usually takes hours in-game, otherwise stable)

For some reason it gets slightly worse when I enable XMP. Significantly worse if I undervold the CPU even a bit. Temps go no further than 80-85C under full load.

Would appreciate your thoughts on potential reasons.

Specs:

  • 5900x
  • B550m DS3H (Swapping tomorrow to B550 Tomahawk)
  • 3600Mhz 2x16Gb Kingston Fury (2400mhz if JEDEC)
  • 6700xt Saphire Pulse
  • 750W Zalman GigaMax

Will also be reinstalling Windows after motherboard swap.
