Too yellow to be olive green, too green to be proper mustard yellow.

Olive yellow or green mustard, your choice

5/10

I just need a job in a creative field. Not sure if that would make it a 10 but would certainly take it to a 9. The last point would be with improved relationships and closer friends.

Okay so what do we make of the sledge and reindeer? Are they also the spawn of Santa, in a different category like ants have soldiers and workers?

I'd watch this movie

Yeah that's the bizarre part. If you are picking this very specific acid you either stole it without knowing anything about it or you know exactly what it is. Both equally puzzling

[–] Mothra@mander.xyz 66 points 2 days ago (19 children)

Ok so being a chemistry ignorant as I am, I went to Wikipedia to read about this acid, thinking it was probably a very common household item sold under a different name or perhaps a very common drug with a different street name, you get it. But it's not. It's just some acid used in a variety of industry processes.

Why on earth would anyone, even on drugs, think an enema with acid is something they need to experience? I've never done cocaine and I'm also not into painful anal stuff so if you are into either and care to explain I'd really appreciate it.

Hunting with firearms is not illegal in Australia. They are relatively common in rural areas, they have their use. All you need is someone stealing guns one way or another and then smuggling them to the city. It's not like the police will stop you to rummage through your belongings... unless you drive like an absolute reckless imbecile.

I don't think you can prevent this from happening again. You can definitely take measures to make it more difficult to happen again, ie. police cordoning an area where there is a religious gathering. But there is always a way. You can't control everything. When it's not guns it's a car driving over people or explosives or poisoning or whatever.

I've dabbled in the occults during my youth and I've never heard of "skin readings". Maybe it's an ancient technique that escaped my radar or maybe it's just a scammer getting your boob pics. I'd be inclined to think it's the latter.

Maracuya has a different leaf, and the fruit is typically not as big, but I'll grant you it looks similar and the leaf could be of an unusual shape

Answer: no

However fossils are relatively scarce, especially those that are in great condition (which means we can learn from them). They slowly decay when exhibited because of environment conditions, so you are very likely to find a majority of replicas.

Now, occasionally you do see the real thing. I remember seeing that famous archeopteryx fossil during a temporary exhibit at the Australian museum and I was completely blown away by the amount of detail it had. Mesmerizing. 10/10 would definitely recommend

I'm just a casual gamer, I absolutely loved the score in Skyrim and Oblivion but when trying to find other good ambience music for caves/ruins/dungeons I was a bit stumped. I've found people creating this kind of ambient soundtracks and that's great, but I'm still curious about the videogame ones. I tried searching for that and failed.

I'm looking for eerie, natural or mysterious types of tracks, nothing too high energy. The platform or genre of the game doesn't matter.

Have you got any good examples?

What do you call someone who is mediocre at best on a variety of fields but likes to pose as a polished and cultured person?

I'm not sure if I'm explaining this well. This person has a "I'm better than you" or "I know better and say it best" attitude, likes to pass as sensible and intellectual but when you contrast how they try to come across with what they actually do, how indifferent they are to others, and the quality of the skills they like to boast about it doesn't add up. It's all superficial, there is no substance to them, and no apparent self awareness ever of any of these shortcomings.

It's like a special brand of "full of it". Is there a word for it?

You know, sailors used to get scurvy because of C deficiency back a couple centuries ago. Vitamin C degrades really easily, but is there any way you can store it long term other than pills or tablets? I'm just wondering if it would have been possible to do this in the past with the technology that was available.

I just need to rant somewhere. I've been looking for work for a long time, and so LinkedIn is part of the sites I regularly check for jobs.

Today I had a message from some asshat saying they've launched an AI marketplace and behold, they need my help to improve it! I could be making thousands a week detecting fringe cases that AI isn't yet good at solving! And I could be making friends with like minded assholes I mean creative experts helping AI!

Doesn't it sound like a dream???

The worst part is that I don't think it was a scam. For sure one wouldn't be making thousands per week, I'm sure that's misleading, but the rest of the platform sounded believable enough. Which means there's going to be plenty of "experts" flocking to it.

Curious if you have this option where you live and how it works.

So I'm housesitting and the people that live here left their bins about 3/4 full. The collection is fortnightly here in Sydney.

I put the bins out at the right time like every other neighbor, but the next morning all bins were empty, except mine.

I was told to make an online claim to the council, and I did, thinking it would be completely ignored. Their website says that if you put the bins out and they miss collecting, they'll come back and pick it up in two business days. I just entered my name, address and phone and to my surprise, sure enough, after the weekend they came and picked up just my bin. Nobody requested any proof of my claim, they didn't even reply or confirm they were going to do it- they just did it. They also didn't care that my name isn't listed as a resident of the address I gave.

Happy days I guess. But this got me thinking, how do they know the fault is on their side and not mine? How do they prevent people from abusing the system? Do they have dashcams they check to see? Or the number of people asking for collection is so low that they just don't care? Does anyone know?

Imagine you had a car and somehow you manage to paint/mark it so it's identical to any other police car in your area. Assuming you don't use the siren lights ( or, hell, it's your car, do whatever you want) for how long you reckon you can drive that around before someone picks up on it?

This is the right community for this question, right, it has to be

Privacy friendly ftw. I'm not satisfied with the amount of post processing mine does to images, I have little to no control over it. It's like it adds very aggressive blur and sharpen filters for everything, and when you zoom up everything looks "blobby".

My previous phone took way better photos, and I still use it if I need something looking a bit better. But it would be nice if I could just take decent photos with what I got, since I don't always carry my old phone everywhere.

Suggestions?

I've seen people posting tweets from public figures talking about alligators, seen other people joking about alligators. It appears to me that the issue is political, not environmental, but I don't fully get the picture.

What's going on?
