downvoted. My hand moved on it's own for some reason. Sorry (not).
you will be reincarnated as a … shumil
Perfect. I'll infiltrate the royal academy and will be pampered by the entire female student body.
I think I'll go with Bookworm.
- finished. I wouldn't want to die on a cliffhanger.
- I love the series enough that the PSD (post series depression) would put me in the mood to say to the warden "yeah, okay. You can zap me now".
- why not go out on a high note?
- one of the better worlds to isekai into. Knocking on wood that I'll be a noble.
I am pretty sure you picked it up before and dropped it.
I did not have it, so I think someone just said something about it and I didn't give it a chance. Probably something about how timid MC was.
(I am sure you are much farther in the story that I am), but he is mostly a self-proclaimed cool guy
I'm almost through volume 4 now, and sadly, him asking for praise is absent in the later volumes. Would have been a funny running gag. But there was a moment when he got angry and showed his claws, which was in all honesty "cool". "Wise man fear the anger of a gentle ~~man~~ cat" and all that.
Ascendance of a Bookworm: Hannelore’s Fifth Year at the Royal Academy - WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO IKZ!!!!
<Isekai Tensei: Recruited to Another World Volume 10> - Another series that fell off quality-wise. There has been a shift towards something like "Marvel MCU Banter" but if feels extremely forced and overused. In this volume, there is about 90% of just this. The group of characters is trying to be funny but isn't. And it's running in circles, repeating the same supposedly funny joke again and again. 5/10
<Secrets of the Silent Witch, Vol. 1> - I needed to know why Nero is a cool guy, so I had to pick up the series. Little Magical Rainman's story is structured like a mystery story and had me guessing the culprit the entire time. It's the teacher. No, it's the haughty, evil queen bee. Or maybe that one student council secretary... and so on. It got a bit more predictable towards the en,d so there was no big reveal "NO WAY!?!" moment, but still very entertaining. 6/10 (score is for all volumes I read this week combined.)
Secrets of the Silent Witch, Vol. 2 - I expected the series to follow a different format with Monica doing different things every volume, so I was surprised to see her still in the school setting. But after that initial confusion, I have now become wise in the ways of the Matsuri Isora. And as proof of this, I have identified the ultimate baddie of this volume from the very beginning. I am also beginning to see why Nero is so cool.
Secrets of the Silent Witch, Vol. 3 - I'm not a fan of bullying stories, and half of this volume is exactly that. And I really don't think the series needed that forced pity trope to stand on its own. It can perfectly function without trying to make the reader feel extra sorry for MC. And then the bully just inexplicably turns 180 after an event and is now not a bully anymore, like a switch. I hated that especially. In the end, it was used as a point of character development so I see why the author might have pushed this so hard, but I still disliked reading it. Anyway, at least the second half was entertaining.
Just a quick reminder: this is a anime about cameras. Just like Grand Blue was about diving.
I can understand the curry craving making you do insane trips. Been there, done that. Here where I live there was a short period of time where Dominos tried to get a foothold and during the 2 or so years they were here I ate nearly every day their special brand of garlic bread sticks. Even though we most of the time got something else to eat we also grabbed the bread sticks from Dominos. Fast forward a decade or so and a friend and I are glazing the hell out of Dominos bread sticks to my then-fiance who didn't understand the glory of those masterpieces of culinary art. So we googled the nearest Dominos chain and it turns out there is one the next country over. Not "county". "Country". So we filled up the car and drove for hours just to get those bread sticks. And as it turns out not every Dominos chain restaurant does the bread sticks the same. They weren't even sticks to begin with at that place and tasted terrible and should burn in hell!
If you grab a physical light novel you probably didn't know that it was printed in the country of "Bookland". At least when you believe the EAN Code printed on it. That the barcode on the back of practically everything you buy.
The first 3 numbers on any EAN code declare the country of origin. the US for example has 001-139. the UK has 500–509, Germany has 400-440, and Japan has 490–499. And the country of "Bookland" has the numbers 978 and 979. So if you grab one of your light novels (or any book really) and check the EAN code you'll see that your book was printed it Bookland as well.
Wouldn't it be wonderful to be a citizen of Bookland?
That's interesting. (ha-ha, that's the title!)
I've read a lot of afterwords talking about the differences between the web and light novels, but I don't remember anyone talking about the differences writing them. I would imagine for light novels the editor would somewhat play the role a the readers would have in the web version.
I know what I'll do this weekend!
