They have to add age verification. The old owner just didn't want to make the investment/ effort. This has nothing to do with enshitification.

Fuck Meta and everything they do.

The second part simply isn't true. Look at the ToS wording (US version). Nintendo added a clause specific to the device's functioning, not only to online services.

They can brick it in the US, not in UK or EU.

If I imagine being in your situation, I'd probably feel comparably off track. I mean, it probably feels shit to be laid off. And it is perfectly okay to feel shit after something shitty happened. Now the question is: how long is it "ok" to feel that way? I'd argue this is very individual.

I hate it when people on social media pretend to be able to give diagnoses, like "This is a depression!". This is not a medical forum, just random people saying random stuff.

However, I would seek professional advise on your situation. See a doctor or a therapist. It will help you identify techniques to deal with how you feel - anxiety, depression, or just normal reaction to something negative happening to you.

Also, speak with friends. They might have made similar experiences in the past. And even if not, it just feels good to get stuff off your chest.

Some video games have been trying to use generative AI for years now, and for the most part people simply have not been having it. Why would we? It's lazy, it's ugly, it's an ethical black hole and it's being driven by an executive class desperate to lay off even more workers. While earlier and more brazen attempts at employing the tech were obvious, lately it's becoming more common for studios to slide a little AI-generated content in without drawing attention to it.

Jurassic World Evolution 3 launched with some AI-generated character portraits, then got bullied into removing them. Clair Obscur, which will be a lot of people's game of the year, appeared to quietly launch with some AI-generated art then just as quietly patch it out. I was going to review the city-building grand strategy game Kaiserpunk until I saw they were using AI-generated images for their dialogue sections, after which I promptly uninstalled it.

The latest culprit is The Alters, which has found to have shipped not only with AI-generated placeholder text in-game, but also employed AI-generated translations in some of its side content as well. None of this was disclosed prior to the game's release; it was all discovered later, by players, and has prompted an explanation of sorts from the developers which tries to calm everyone down, but which has just made things worse, because if it took people discovering these specific instances to find that 11 Bit had used AI-generated content in the game's development, how do we know there's not more of it?

Even if people only sign because they want to mess with Thor, that fee l reason is as good as any. Go, go, go!

Funny how the comments in this thread went from "haha he's degoogling on YouTube?" to "do you believe in rehabilitation?" - "HE'S A NAZI!!!".

It truly feels like back in the good old Reddit days. You either get popcorn or your pitchfork. There's nothing in-between.

I'd be the perfect First Husband and eat shrimp cocktail while the peasants worship us!

Reposted something, am getting notifications on the bottom bar for every reply. How can I deactivate that for that post only?

Thanks!

Hello everyone!

I'm looking for an option to play 3DS games on a Steam Deck.

I'm using RetroArch for SNES and N64, but I'm lacking a core for 3DS. Guides I found online are all pointing to dead or old sources.

Any suggestions or ideas? Ideally something that integrates with RetroArch (not a must tho)?

I am not very familiar with how stuff works under Linux, so I'd need a bit of hand holding unfortunately.

Thanks in advance!

I'm looking for an easy to use, light weight app to connect to my local SMB share (via username and password).

Any suggestions?

The "big" ones either cost or are shit.

UPDATE: thanks everyone for your suggestions! I'll give the apps a shot and will report back. This will take me some time tho - bear with me!

EDIT: question answered in commented links. Keeping it here for record keeping.

I saw that this user is constantly reposting from other instances, it's basically all they do.

I could just block them, but I was wondering

  • is this maybe just a bot?
  • is it against the rules?

Ideally, they'd crosspost instead of repost. And I think this is against the very idea of the instance federation.

It's really more a question than a call for action.

I bought Zelda TotK right after release for Switch 1, just to be presented with a bright, blurry game with loading screens that I, personally, couldn't live with. I retired it after about an hour, uninstalled it from my console and sold the game on eBay.

Years later, the Switch 2 released and I was hyped. Bought it on release day and had the urge to give TotK another go. This was the start of something beautiful.

This game is an absolute blast. I wasn't as hooked since Elden Ring. The map design, the sheer possibilities, the love for detail, the way the game guides you in the right direction: it's absolutely fantastic.

This game is a master piece, and on the Switch 2, the game feels the way it should have felt on the day it released.

I can not recommend this enough.

This user is going completely crazy, but not in a funny way. They deserve an account wide ban. How do I even report this?

Wife and I are training Eureka because it's goofy, wholesome, there's basically no violence.

Can you recommend anything comparable? Maybe newer? Ideally available on Prime, but open to whatever suggestions you have.

Update: I'm a bit short on time, but thanks everyone for responding! Quite a few suggestions to follow, I really appreciate that!

Might be a question with an obvious answer, but I'd like some input.

I'm into Pilates recently (5 weeks), because it just feels so good and helps a few of my health conditions. But I've been experiencing issues with my hip and lower back ever since I started. The pain is significant, but according to my doctor, it's muscular.

Is this the typical "it gets worse before it gets better" situation, or should I consider to drop it?

Anyone with similar experience?
