PugJesus
Denying genocide and then walking it back later, whilst defending genocide deniers does not inspire much confidence in the walking back.
When someone tells you who they are, believe them the first time.
If the developers of Lemmy magically changed to others whose views you agree with, would you then return to using Lemmy?
It'd be a bit late now. I've already made the move to Piefed. It would've had to have happened before I made the move.
As mentioned, Piefed is compatible with Lemmy, so it's not like Lemmy users are 'cut off'.
Isnβt there also a third option where you can fork it [1], continuing development yourself [3]?
Theoretically, yes, but as far as I know, there aren't major projects undertaking such an endeavor at present.
That might be my bad - I'm still learning Piefed markdown.
This places users who are not genocide deniers or supporters in an awkward position - namely, that either we refrain from contributing to the devs - damaging the longevity of the platform weβre using - or that we contribute to them despite their horrific views - enabling them to continue spreading and creating a space for genocide denial.
Lemmy, the platform/software, needs to be maintained. Either we refuse to support the system we're using, damaging its long-term prospects for survival, or we contribute to the people running it, who use it for genocide denial. Better to move to a non-shitty Fediverse alternative.
Weird, it works fine for me
Wait, why can't Boost access Piefed comms?
You may not see most posts, since my account is instance-banned from Blahaj.
Any day. I'm already over there on my Piefed account.
I didn't feel 'good' about locking the comm and leaving people who didn't see the announcement in the dark, so I'm just commenting on posts that come up.
