But in answer to the question, I'd ask the host before arriving, and would expect to pay / donate to cover the cost of charging the car. It'd work out as an extra fiver a day or so, at a guess.

Only gotcha is that the intelligent doesn't always work! I've had at it 3 times in a row where the schedule had not been obeyed and charged too much, or outside of the plan. A problem with kia, rather then octopus, apparently. It is beta, after all.

But on the other hand, it does offer cheap rates outside of that 6 hour window if it determines you need it.

And the rest of the house also benefits during that time. The more you can shift off peak (dishwasher, washing machine, etc) the better. Octopus reckons I use over 50% of my household consumption in the off peak hours.
