A brave Congress would require an overhaul of the election system. It is pretty much a catch 22. Also, if there are going to be elections in the future, they will have been corrupted as hell, the 2024 one was definitely not legitimate. The Republicans are not going to voluntarily relinquish power anymore.

I don't call them fascists because I disagree with them, I call them fascists because of all of the fascist things they do.
The painting is by Charles Delort, and is from the late 19th century.
Richelieu was apparently a cat lover though, owning 14 of them. Considering cats as pets was quite unusual in his time.
They are not claiming he is an aberration: "Just the diseased distillation of everything this country swears it isn't but has always been etc.".
Nah, Zuckerberg was among the tech oligarchs kissing Trumps ring at that recent meeting. Making people dumber is not an accidental side effect.
Same with the "depressed middle-aged dads".
I don't think that is adorable at all. It is frighteningly delusional. Not to mention extremely narcissistic ("Of course I will be raptured, but my husband probably isn't worthy").
The priority is that it is much easier to be a dictator when your population is uneducated.
Where they are heading they don't need no schools anyway.
No, they won't. Don't forget that Trump was dumped by Murdoc for a short while, and the Republicans tried setting up alternative candidates instead of Trump, but none of them worked, because Trump has the Republican voterbase in his pocket. Vance doesn't have that, and is in fact seen as a bit of a laughing stock even among MAGA cultists.
Trump rules the Republican party with an iron fist because he has shown that the voters won't abandon him. Noone else in the party has that kind of hold, and it is very interesting what will happen when Trump dies. Fragmentation seems an obvious answer, but it is impossible to predict. Either way Vance probably won't be among the finalists.
Someone who knows about this sort of thing should change this meme into the guy in the first panel just saying this meme.
It wasn't about democracy back then either. It was about a small, mostly slave owning, elite taking over.
